Using BP 98 - remap needed?

Hi guys and girls.

 

When Legacies are imported from Japan are they remapped at any stages in the process for NZ fuel and climate?

 

I am using BP '98 as I believe these engines prefer 95/98? but would a remap be needed?

 

My legacy seems to be heavy on go go juice and I am getting 6-7km to the liter

If anything they're tuned to 100+ octane, at least for the bh/be. Not sure about bp/bl.

 

I use NPD 100 in mine, used to use 98 and have used 95 once on the Westcoast when I couldn't quite make it to Greymouth BP

Same deal as BE/BH Legacy’s regarding the tune set for 100. Nothing is done to get them working as efficiently as possible for the NZ environment and available fuel.

 

Remap would help a heap but unless you have a super heavy foot 6-7 would indicate an issue somewhere. 

You’ll quickly find a Tactrix cable and a laptop become your best friend while driving a late-ish model Subaru

Ill give it the current tank to get a final number and see how it goes (maybe my estimate are off but time will tell)

 

What software must i get?

Just need romraider for logging and flashing, or btssm if you just want to log with an android phone.

even my ol' 98 GTB (BG) was a learning ECU i was told (or read) and you can fool or Hard set (teach) them to max Power with a reset & set procedure on your best fuel

 

not sure about the GEN 3 stuff (yours)

 

but yeah a tank or two of 95 will bring knock level detection or retart timing etc to avoid it

 

so yeah fill up & just drive it!

 

noticable black soot behind my old GTB on 95, as soon as Dvk got 98 back it went away
