  1. Old: Close enough, lyall bay. Now I look at them, yours is further to end of the runway but I couldn't get there. New:

  2. I've thought about similar projects (was a bh5 wagon with blown head gasket for 500). I think the profit would be better just replacing like for like as cheaply as possible to sell a working car. I think 1400 is a bit high for one of these, you won't know what else needs replacing till you get it running and drive it. Modified cars are worth no more than stock ones from what I've seen on TM.

  5. Hi Guys, Looking for some advice, my VF34 isn’t performing as it should, appears to have chips on the inlet turbine and doesn’t spin freely. From what I’ve read it looks like the td05-18g is a good fit (car’s a v7 Spec C) for what I’m after – bolt on, not that far off factory spool and has more top end. I’ve been quoted $1350 incl for genuine MHI turbo core and bearings, aftermarket housing, billet turbine etc. from Total Turbo in Lower Hutt Am also looking to replace the injectors and the intercooler at the same time, to get the most out of the turbo. Prestige Performance has quoted me $150 x4 for 1000cc injectors. I assume these are ID1000’s. Is it worth making the switch to a front mount intercooler, or would a good top mount do the job? Has anyone had any experience with Total Turbo or td05-18g’s? Are 1000CC injectors too big/not big enough? I’d like to have room for flexi fuel later on.

  6. Just wondering if there would be any money in doing sti and manual swap with this legacy with blown big ends. My mate has a V6 sti engine I could prob get cheap. If I got this legacy cheap would there be any money in it? Would prob do most of it myself. The other option is just do put new legacy engine in it then resell. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/subaru/auction-1430874990.htm

  7. Update: yep, that got it. Looks like I need to dial out a little camber in the rear, gets a bit squirmy on boost mid corner, im at just on 2 degrees each side so i'll try taking it back to about 1.5 deg

  8. Think i've chased out my annoying clunk. Passenger side endlink was a touch loose. Shortened the threads on the whiteline balljoint endlinks, much easier to get the bastards in and out now. Installed mudflaps, red ones from a company called "rokblokz", 98usd plus about 30 nzd to ship em here (youshop ftw) Nice fitment, they arent the super flexible urethane ones, but they look alright. Quite happy with em!! Taking car for a drive after dinner, got some things to do, good chance for a shakedown. V7 rear control arms are on their way up from coromandel, second ro last piece of the puzzle, just got to sort the bbs rims!! Dropped them off with my tyre guy to get em checked for roundness, pricing up some shreading tyres for flatnats lol

  10. This. Just put a efr6758 on the rally car. We wanted a turbo that was more responsive than the vf30, spooled earlier and had more top end. Ended up spooling 250rpm earlier, making 245wkw restricted and 327wkw unrestricted on 20psi and e85. Amazing turbo.

  11. depends on the dyno, I know my old td05 18g hit 240kw atw on an old ver 3 sti engine. If you want a seriously mental turbo with good power and ridiculous*(lol) spool get a bortgwarner EFR. Think they come with wastegate/boost control all in one as well so they are actually pretty good value for money.

  13. Keep in mind that the turnaround from sending to getting back can be as long as a few months with Murch

  14. In all seriousness, send the turbo to Steve Murch and he can rebuild the turbo and put a new compressor wheel on it and make it like new. Believe that costs around 550-700. Think that include a new billet compressor wheel as well, which should improve performance somewhat over the original factory item.
