  1. I'm not being a douche, but do you know what FFS and Anti-lag is for? They're at the opposite ends of operation. Anti-Lag is only activated when your foot is 'off' (within reason) the gas and decelerating keeping the turbo 'spooled'. Where-as Flat Foot Shifting is when you're rowing gears down the straight and not lifting off the boost pedal between gears to shift, this is in order to keep your boost pressure up between gears. Personally, and I'm reading this through my interpretation of what you've written. Don't bother with Anti-Lag. It's a track car and you should be in your peak power range anyway, it's really useful for rallying where you might get bogged down etc, but less so on track. FFS, yeah worth it. Just be warned it can be a little more... Rough on your transmission.
  2. On that note of Mansfield... Anyone wanna loan me a trailer for flatnats so I can trailer my RA down from Auckland and back haha.
  3. Just a quick question for you first. Firstly are you doing motorsport? If not, why do you want Anti-lag? Anti-lag will kill your turbo rather fast if its a standard VF series unit. Launch control and FFS are otherwise awesome. Launch control is great for building boost and obviously launching off the line and FFS is equally as helpful when you're powering up a straight and don't want to lift to change gears
  4. Simply put, it's not worth doing **** like that. I've done silly stuff, as I'm sure most of us have. However, putting other people at risk on the public roads like that is not cool. Though, on topic again. I am also looking to hopefully join a club and do the likes Auckland production car series which really interests me
  5. haha many thanks, was basically referring to the below as I'm not yet into actually competing in motorsports. DCC ESCC/OSCC I have a feeling those three are all clubs?
  6. PBMS swear by the factory STi headers and say if you've been unsuccessful at finding STi one's the Legacy headers are your next best bet. Aftermarket headers are apparently 9/10 times worse than the factory ones due to going to large on the pipe diameter, slowing down EGV's (exhaust gas velocity)etc. Personally I'd do what EvoWRX is saying and get either Legacy headers (or STi) and fashion up an up-pipe to similar pipe sizes are factory, then a Murch Holset. Speak to him about what you're wanting to do and he'll be able to sort you right. Either that or buy the up-pipe/WG/turbo combo that EvoWRX has You also don't need to go dual WG's either, you can merge it to a singular WG with no issues. I think the Borg's are too over priced (albeit fantastic bit of kit) considering you can have a Holset do EXACTLY the same.
  7. So many acronyms... can someone please expand haha
  8. Believe the answer there should be a big nope.
  9. Much more than that. I'm running 1.2 Bar.
  10. I have to admit, when I had those wheels on my RA for flatnats, the black colour totally sold me on the whole black on blue colour scheme haha. Looks great on your car. Hence why the V10 STi wheels I've got are black (still, got them like that) On that note.
  11. Not a bad first post man :)Like the look you've got going there.
  12. There's absolutely no difference in design. Maybe the persons meaning they came out of a 2WD car so softer? Otherwise no fking clue.
  13. Dammit ! I knew I forgot someone when looking around for a downpipe Already having one made down south. Oh well.
  14. Opinion: Figure out exactly what you want to do. 450hp end of the day is just a figure. Do you want response, do you want a time attack, rally or circuit car or road car. yada yada Once you know exactly what you want, go about figuring out what supporting modifications you'll need to get there. Just remember, it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow... So remember to do all your suspension, brakes, wheels and tyres FIRST. They're what transform the car (in my opinion remember). There's been discussions surrounding MCA suspension recently on here and for track one bloke who got a suspension setup from MCA dropped .7 of a second off his PB with no other changes to the car. Gearbox, just putting it out there and like what Boon said, big power is the death of 5 speeds. Worth time/money investing in a 6 speed. That's my 10 cents. P.S. While I agree with Kwi_fozzie about the whole Link thing, if long run you're wanting something for motorsports and something that at the end of the day has a butt-load of power, probably your best bet, just not needed yet. They're not going to go up in price.
  15. Just my own two cents here. Motul = spency. In saying that, you buy good oil for a reason. I personally used Castrol Syntrax in my Gearbox (v10 STi 6 speed), can't remember the oil for the rear diff, will find the container when I'm home, and for engine oil I used Penrite 10 Tenths Racing 10w40. Although I might be going to a slightly thicker viscosity due to the KM's getting a bit higher on my motor now.
  16. Agreed, they're very fast and cheap. Zenki and I bought enough gaskets to pull down two motors and put them back together for just shy of $400 incl shipping. It's very worth the time. Admittedly, it does happen sometimes where you get a partial order cancellation because the stock just isn't there, but they'll refund the shipping (partial) and item cost. Edit: Sorry when I say pull down two motors, I mean doing everything shy of new HG's.
  17. Zenki had a line on one. As he was talking about buying one specifically for fixing the intercooler. Obviously he didn't buy it but yeah lol, maybe he can chime in on it.
  18. Those would be Volk CE28N's I have a set for sale
  19. Car: '99 STi Type RA Suspension: v10 Suspension (hubs, and control arms) with OZ racing coil-overs Mags: V10 STi wheels wheels diamater: 17" Wheels width: 8" Offset: +55 Tyres spec: RE002 215x40r17 did you have to roll the gaurds?: No
  20. Version 5 STi Type RA with Version 10 STi running gear, including hubs, brakes, and subframes, and turbo setup. Everything bar interior (yet) and the longblock is Version 10 STi.
  21. Has anyone used the OZ racing / BC Racing suspension before? I've got them in my RA, which are virtually brand new (about 5000km on em)to fit the new suspension that went into my v5.10. I'm asking because I've had all of about 1 hours worth of driving in the car and nothing spirited haha. EDIT: OZ Racing is the NZ company owned by Dodson Motorsport
  22. awww yiss, my STi Type RA was $238.45 and will be $153.94
