  1. that engine bay looks super tidy man, im guessing you had to warp that filter out to make it fit without cutting anything?
  2. ^what the heck, is that for plowing the crops or something?
  3. cheers guys, should have mentioned car is already running on carberry rom and was tuned on it by Gary Capper. Since last tune previous owner has changed turbo hence my need to retune and considering ECU upgrade while i'm at it. PBMS were offering a deal for CS members on the link when we tune with them so I'm super tempted on the Link just waiting to hear back about final $$$ impact
  4. hey thoughts on carberry rom on stock ECU for v7 STI? any features/setup to ask for when taking in for dyno tune? also is it worth it for me to have link ecu installed while at the tuner or other things i could better spend the cash on? carberry does speed density already which i heard can be an advantage when set up right (which link also does) but i believe carberry doesnt have closed loop boost, not sure what else there is..
  5. oo welcome to the forums bro, Drews taking his to Dtech for tuning but in AKL, PBMS also have a pretty good rep.are you still planning to put v7 sti TMIC? how do you plan to fit that and keep the stock appearance?
  6. Nice! Should have a submission by end of month #staytuned
  7. so close yet so far away . .. #soon.
  8. thats awesome man, looking forward to seeing that and keeping up with your log! be good to have some local inspiration, will also be chasing 350-400kw range. power is a drug isn't it -.-
  9. damn something for everyone in that vid^
  10. motul vs repsol.... any debate there?
  11. timely topic, about to change my fluids too . following
  12. wow media putting a twist on it aye. what he normally drives is kind of irrelevant. simple common sense before you start pushing any vehicle you familiarise with it first somewhere safe. especially if all you've ever driven is a subaru which lets be honest, you can get away with a whole lot of S*** you wouldn't get away with on other cars! just comparing my sti to my na MR2, that thing was twitchy as hell even on some bloody expensive tyres, in fact i had almost the same kind of spin out my first time trying to push that car haha. MR & RR cars will punish you for any minor handling error, lets all take a moment to appreciate the superior handling of our cars which are a 10th of the $$$.
  13. welcome mate, good stuff! had it tuned yet?
  14. so out of risk that i'll be known as the guy who revives old threads... is the advice still pretty much true today, that you can use factory ECU for boost control and not really need anything like avc-r? the tuners i've spoken with so far are saying they prefer factory ecu and i do trust them so i'll probably go that route.. car came with avc-r when i got it, are there any other advantages of keeping it or shall i proceed to have it removed and onsell to pool up cash for other mods that'll get me a bit more power?
  15. oh bugger, my sister decided that would be a great weekend for her to get married on
  16. If you go the resistor route make sure they are damn good quality and have a nice heatsink, they can get hot real quick , more than enough to melt things. Relays would be my preference , not sure where locally though sorry! Got mine ages ago for old car via eBay
  17. its all good mate, you got the dragons for cheaper than a set of re003s would be anyway, plus they'll most likely give you better life given the stated use.
  18. apparently bridgestone doing buy 3 get 1 free again from monday. pirelli dragons are good though, have had them before and can't complain. wasn't as good as the T1Rs i had before them (i heard T1R is similar comparison to RE003) but at the pricepoint they're at and the use case given, the dragon sports be more than sufficient. tyre life was pretty damn good too.
  19. sorry to bump this old thread but how'd you get on @SpeedySub ? I was already with AA on my last car so stayed with them when i got my STI.. price is $119/month with $400 excess. initial online quote from classiccover was only $58 a month so waiting to hear back from them and a couple other places i've just flicked my details off to. currently really leaning towards classic cover given the pricing is very promising so far. anyone had problems with them?
  20. Ask if there are any significant rust spots or holes. If not then with a bit of elbow grease and autosol metal polish you can get parts of the exterior buffed up. Some of it is probably beyond restoration but no one will see those anyway
  21. arent they just the same as the $20 set that scarles sell but with sti logo on top? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/wheels-tyres/other/auction-1229302898.htm
