  1. Or if using mig, just use SS flux core...
  2. The skills of being able to do very basic repairs/checks on your own car has long but gone. Plus the "she\'ll be right" outlook. There are alot of garages which will see abit of work dry up, due to them have WOF work as there main type of work. From my experience with working on Jap imports, there should be tougher pre rego checks. And the the fact that most Jap imports arent built to last like international models are, we are trying to get 3x as much kms out of car
  3. So what about the Japan Go-fast brand turbo kits? (trust, HKS etc) apart from price, are they better performance/quality?
  4. Like any mod, theres pros/cons. But getting headers before other basic mods are done/done well is the point im making. Sure a set of $2500 Tomei Ti headers will be great, but $2500 towards an ECU/EBC/Baffled sump etc etc would be more of a benefit before needing headers.
  5. The Stock Manifolds are good for around 400hp before they become a limiting factor. Funny how so many people want to change them. Up pipe (and port matching) on standard mainfold be more than enough.
  6. 91/95 is all made in the same place in nz. Its all made out of imported low grade oil"sand" anyway. 98 is imported pre-refined so there could be supply issues.
  7. how much is you insurance worth? (agreed value or market value) Depending on what the insurance company factors on for repair, ( if the repair is going to be over say 60% of car valve..then it would be write off)
  8. Nascar D-slots in matt black!!! be really....umm..different.... Only thing with alot of those sexy JDM wheels, the Subaru width and Offset doesnt make them look as nice. you going to have toplay with the width/offset to get that nice disc look I had Prodrive (RAYS) GC010G\'s 18x8.5 on my V9, added some blue RAYS wheel nuts and really set them off.
  9. Yes I have seen this happin a few times. I even have 2 rods in my garage (one from a toyota 1KZ and one from a Cat C18) One filled with water, One filled with oil after being Upside down. They both bent rods (Cat C18 cracked engine block) from starter motor. You have to remember if the Cyclinder gets a complete throw (BTC to TDC) the amount of force (even from 1kw motor) is enough to do this. Theres engines out there which crack blocks and throw rods out the side of engine instead of bending rods.
  10. If you want to Live up you Car body, use an electric fence transformer. These Pulse 7000VDC, enough to shock, but wont "hook" a person up and kill them. But I would say you would have to isolate evey thing electrical in your car from the chassis in order to stop things being fried. Also, better get your alarm installed right, for somone just to pop the bonnet and cut wires to alarm, is pretty useless install, even if it is 5 star. A 1star alarm installed right is better than 5 star installed half arsed.
  11. Ive use a WTA heat exchanger and hooked the A/C up to it. So you using the A/C to cool your water down. I did it on a REB30DET. The problem(more so in winter) we had is that It was cooling the air down too much and we started to get condensate in the Inlet Manifold.
  12. IF you lucky enough to have a stand alone ECU, Why not get 2 maps setup and adjust between both. One for normal road use, and one for when you wana let rip. (I-drive in new V11 does this) Seen it work well in a couple of HO street cars.
  13. I have an Opposite lock bullbar. 1/2 price of a ARB/TJM one and comes out of same workshop as ARB. also came with LED park/indicator and fog lights. NZ wouldnt have alot for your cover. Theres are lot places in Aussie which build roller decks/drawers/lids for hilux.
  14. In the new year i\'ll be doin this to my Prado (which has same engine as Hilux) Ive driven a couple of LC\'s and Hilux\'s with this done and really makes a big difference. *NB, around town a V11 STi has better fuel mileage than my diesel.
  15. Put an exhuast and diesel chip in and it turns it into a completely different beast.
  16. Yip I did this aswell. Silicon I/C hoses help. And getting the Remote Clutch reservoir... Rear arms: Swap out the cast iron ones for the BL/BP alloy ones. There was a few lesser known tuning houses which made adjustable lower links. Or home build them with some rose joints and some thick walls steel tube. oh.... after market garrett primany turbo which can handle overspin and boost up to less 16-18psi!!!
  17. Durty-Sanchez you still alive!!!!
  18. Intake Silicon hose kits Rear 2pot- Brake Adaptors Downpipes Squential Controller Stand alone ECU EBC thats TT specific Maybe Center and A-Pillar Gauge pods (GReddy use to make some) Up-Pipes? Y-Pipe conversion so you can use a v7+ TMIC V8 Bonnet scoup
  19. Mild steel exhuasts will always rust. No sprays will stop it. You either have to get it coated, or go stainless. Unless its super flaky rust, your exhuast will still be good for a few years to come
  20. OP has a 2000 Rev C. S401 was a Rev D.
