  1. That is kind of handy, but there might have been a whole page of replies before the one you just selected. Seeing that a thread had updated content, and having a single link to take you to the earliest unread post in that thread was really handy!
  2. In the old forum, the links from the unread results took you to the first unread post in the thread. Is there a way to do that still? Tapping the result entry seems to take me to the start of the thread.
  3. Score if it is. The factory front helical LSDs are few and far between. They're either in STi RA/R Ltd boxes or the original owner went out of their way to tick the option at the dealer. AFAICT anyway.
  4. The 75 and 6S are V4 STi and V3 STi ECUs respectively; running 440cc yellows and orange AFMs. Don't know about the IS but there were some non STi WRXs in the Japanese domestic market with VF22s.
  5. There are a few months skew to the model years; so MY98 (V4 or GC8*E*) is something like 09/97-09/98; MY97 (V3 or GC8*D*) would be 09/96-09/97.
  6. Is it redlined in third at the time? Don't think a tiptronic will let you bounce off the limiter.
  7. So which hoses were replaced originally? $400 buys a lot of hose; I'd have thought that would include radiator hoses! If you are going to buy any more hoses, and you want to use genuine parts, get them from partsouq.com
  8. I wish I'd taken the model code of the Grandwagon now. It would be ideal if the rim fit the column, and I could fit my existing airbag to it (assuming the airbag in it wasn't compatible).
  9. Well the steering columns are different part numbers, but that doesn't mean the splines are different. The airbag modules and actual wheels are different part numbers but there are zillions of them in differing shades of leather and different stitching colours. Does that mean they won't plug into the loom or will instantly blow up in my face? If it doesn't have red stitching will I veer off the road wildly because the part number is different? Or will I simply not be able to physically fit it to the car. Has anyone here on CS successfully fitted an OEM Legacy Momo airbag steering wheel to a Momo airbag steering wheel equipped Impreza of a similar era?
  10. Seeing as the dumb question thread is gone (maybe we should have a dumb question section instead), does anyone know if a BG era steering wheel is interchangeable with a GC8E? They are both four spoke Momo leather steering wheels with airbags.
  11. You'll be able to tell if yours is 4WD by looking to see if it has a differential between the rear wheels and a drive shaft going to it =] NZ new Subarus are all 4WD (or AWD as they call it), but they make all sorts of 2WD vehicles for other markets that come here as imports. Not sure on the oil. Look for a service manual and see what the manufacturer says. At a guess I'd imagine 5w-30 or 10w-40 or thereabouts, but someone else will no doubt chime in.
  12. I'm guessing it is an auto. If so, and it is like an old Legacy I used to have, the Hold button will stop the auto changing gear while the power button will hold the gear to higher revs before changing up.
  13. The belt screech I would have thought to be power steering belt. You could look there first to see if it is worn/ cracked or just loose. The brake squeal could be to do with the pads. Did the previous owner mention what they were? More likely is that the plates on the back of them are vibrating against each other at certain resonant frequencies. If you are comfortable taking pads out, you could try putting some of that goo automotive stores sell to the backing plates which dampens vibration. The version thing is pretty colloquial. In NZ we typically call the "Hawkeye" a V10, and the hatchbacks V11. After that version it gets a bit muddier and people typically refer back to the model codes. For your car I'd shop on model code. Hope that helps.
  14. Upload your photos to Photobucket or whatever, and link to them in IMG tags: [img=path/to/image] [/Code]
  15. Just keep in mind they need to fit over the dynamic range of the strut too. If they hit the inside of the guard on compression it is dangerous.
  16. I've got a standard V4 Type R in white that's pretty tidy, but as above, not sure what I'll be doing that far away!
  17. How much camber are you running currently? I remember having the exact same combo (V7/225-45) on my coupe at a street sprint once and the rears kept smashing into the guards in potholes. It was scary! You might be up for a wide body graft. NotAWhiteGTB had a hook-up for the S5/6 WRC guards locally if you wanted to go crazy.
  18. I can't believe you would blame an owner for not protecting their car enough. It's like blaming a rape victim for wearing too provocative clothing.
  19. If they are OEM gear, bolted to OEM mounts, why would you need a cert?
  20. Yeah, well I was curious whether anyone around here had actually EVER broken an R180 axle; RWD conversions and 600HP drag cars notwithstanding. I guess the same question for R160 is just as interesting - which you answered.
