  1. You can use the V7 STi engine, but you need to either run an ECU that supports AVCS, or de-AVCS the engine, I reckon your best option is getting the heads on your current 207 checked, and buying a brand new shortblock from winger subaru, then getting it all assembled- providing your camshafts, and heads are all good. Will be the most reliable way of rebuilding.
  2. Lag with a supercharger? you're dreaming. It is literally spinning off the crank. it spins as the engine spins; there's no lag lol-unless the belt is slipping or the wrong pulleys were used.
  3. They still could have supercharged it, no turbo lag with that. Subaru supercharged a few of the sambar variants.
  4. I think it comes down to the fact that those of us that dont have forced induction cars are cheap, theres a few of us that are cheap and have forced induction, not so many that can justify all the $$ on a car without a turbo.
  5. price is a good one, And tbh due to the year it'll hold value so you'd be able to upgrade to something else at a later date if you decided you didnt want an auto.
  6. 90 bucks for a wheel alignment? F*** that. I don't think I've ever paid anywhere near that for an alignment. Then again, I usually know the tyre guys and get S*** cheap.
  7. Marlborough to Auckland- that's a move I've made earlier this year- Just get a manual, let your clutch leg be strong and guide you. Auckland traffic isn't too bad, just don't get an HD clutch that'd make it tough lol. On the A-line though- It appears to be only half an STi So, STi engine; reading a review though- It had single-pot rear brakes and only twins up front I suppose cheap replacement but still.. -again everything is an option from the factory https://www.gtnet.co.jp/car_info/impression/impreza_impression/index_en.php
  8. So, actually got my wheel alignment done on thursday, Gareth at Bridgestone Massey (By westgate) Top bloke, didn't end up charging me because he felt they'd messed me around (I was expecting things to be poked, they weren't too buggered, good result for me) So will use them in future. Good bunch there. Finally had my new headlight arrive which is good. so Car's pretty much ready for a WOF now. which isn't due for a bit, but yeah. feeling good all around.
  9. It should become tight, you did get a genuine kit from subaru right? Did you wind the engine over by hand at least one full revolution before starting the car? the slow movement helps the tensioner set
  10. went for a wheel alignment today; turns out I've bent something when I hit the curb, 1.5 degrees of caster on one side lol; so I've bought some control arms- just have to wait for the seller to let me know where he is so I can go and get them. That and the Tie rod end was seized up (and the nut rounded) (thereby unadjustable) so will get it back on the lift tomorrow and apply heat-guys at bridgestone by westgate seemed like good chaps, easy to deal with. so hopefully this week doesn't get more expensive than a headlight and a control arm haha
  11. I think I've ownly owned "Performance cars" 1997 Honda Accord SiR-T went hunnits.
  12. Today, I finally changed the gearbox oil after having it sitting in my passengers footwell for too long. - also discovered a chip on the INSIDE of my passengers side headlight; I'm not even sure how that's possible- so straight on subaruspeed to order one lol. 120(incl shipping) later, ans that should be here sometime this week. Oh, Thumbs up to the person at eastgate who revved their legacy at me while I was waiting outside tank. (I was wearing the clubsub shirt) Made the day.
  13. life hack, ordinarily a stubby doesn't sit in the cup holder too well, but if you put it in a beer cosy/cooler- the cup holder holds it perfect. no more spillage between destinations
  14. to accommodate V mount? Only way that's acceptable.
  15. make sure the Air tank is full, don't go spraying while it's filling up- might get pressure drops- depending on the size of the compressor. try to keep the spray guns distance from the car even the whole way. and the more undercoats(spray, sand back etc. etc.), the less imperfections in the top coat. -extent of my knowledge, hope it goes to some use.
  16. all my wheels are the same colour now. Feels good torquing wheel nuts down. May however have flogged a wheel bearing the other day.. Difficult to say. not any movement of the bearing- just the rotor slightly with the wheel off. Will find out when I take my car for an early wof to make sure everything is Dandy. Then adjusted the chain on the motorbike too because I'd left it way too slack.
  17. Is AVS still a club sponsor? They do good work. Good systems.
  18. looks nice Andy, Me- fitted new leads to the drivers side - where one was damaged and the other was sketch. HOLY S*** I forgot what a car that doesn't misfire feels like haha. Feelsgoodman.jpg
  19. did the standard imprezas not change to 5x114 in '04? Or was that just a WRX/STi thing?
  20. Picked up a set of STi 16's for a pretty good price, only thing is someone who's had them in the past painted over silver- gold is flaking through as the silver peels, Any ideas on how to remove the top layer? I was thinking sanding block? or thinners? Don't want to damage the gold underneath haha
  21. apparently they maintain about 4 - 5 seconds 0-100 times across the range
  22. Stevens Automotive in Motueka do bloody good work- not necessarily subaru specific- but heavily focused around the performance car scene and whatnot. #BetterLateThannever
  23. I would. If everything is plugged back together the light should go out. Disconnect the battery, foot on the brakes, reconnect seat, make sure all components are reconnected, reconnect battery. turn the car on and your airbag light should be out
  24. well, NZDF sorta has the rights to it, but it's my car... I own all the rights to this one though
