WIX Oil Filters

Anyone used these? I got one when I bought some oil this weekend - but I'm not 100% sure it is the right part. It's for a V4 Impreza.

The one I have is this;

After having a browse to make sure I think that maybe I should be using this one?

http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlookup/PartDetail.asp?Part=51365

They have the same thread. The one I have is slightly larger diameter. The bypass on both of them is pretty low - I think Subaru ones are in the 20s? They both flow the same. The one I've got seems to have a better beta rating (unless I'm reading it wrong)

i dont know wix part numbers, but the 2nd one looks like the one i'd use, i can do a crossover to check against my part numbers when i get to work tomorrow if no one knows before then.

you dont need genuine, most aftermarket filters meet the same specs as genuine anyway. and unless your in the trade, genuine ones are alot more expensive.

Sounds like you did the same as me and got some ELF oil and a filter from Shred?

I'm not worried about the filter, looks good to me and a better size than the standard

subaru filters. Bigger is better with a filter.

ok did a check at work for you, the one you have is correct, its equivilent to a Ryco/Fram/Ripco Z79X, or a C1032 in my Sakura part number, also crosses to a F01009 which is a Partmaster/OE part number. hope i've confused you lol.

the 2nd one is not meant for any subaru even though it has it on that link you put up.

and for everyones info i have never had a subaru come back with aftermarket oil or air filter issues, and we do shitloads of them ;)

hmm, now that I have jumped in with my big mouth... I wonder how significant the

by pass filter pressure is?

not too significant, if the filter is changed at correct intervals it should never reach the point of the bypass valve opening, its there for extreme filter blockage to allow oil to still be pumped to save engine failure.

id rather have one with a low by pass pressure.

The americans seem to like WIX filters. They also like Purolator and a few other brands we dont get here.

Personally i dont like the repco filters. I know they might be built to the same specs as the genuine ones - but all youve gotta do is look at the 2 side by side and theres a massive difference in build quality.

At the end of the day i guess it doesnt really matter for all you turbo guys doing oil changes every 6,000km :P

But as my filters do twice that - i prefer to pay and get a good one. Plus nobody else seems to make a proper filter for the H6 - they just list the H4 one

yea personally dont like repco ones either, but they do the same job, one thing ive found is they are made of very thin metal, we stab holes in the top of all the old filters to drain them out for scrap metal and they are so thin its not funny. but the Sakura ones we use are really thick, takes a few hits to punch a hole in them. Partmaster/OE ones are also really thick.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
