Differential Subaru service tool anybody know where to get?

Hi, Looking for the 13mm square tool to undo the diff filler and drain bung on the Subaru differentials anybody know where to buy it in New Zealand?

P.s Tried repco, toolshed, subaru, autotrail, bnt, hand tools

ummmm it's just a socket driver... 1\2" driver maybe? thats what i've used

Yeah I just use my 12.7mm square drive. Works fine.

just dont want to ruin my good 1/2 drive or the plug because of rounding by not fitting snuggly enough and might be tight being the first time its being done to my car?

you wont ruin it, do these every day at my work, never had that issue. im sure boostin will say the same.

I never even realised that there was a "special" tool for that job. I always used my 1/2" drive powerbar (or rattlegun) as the others have said.

If you do ruin the bar, it was pretty bad quality. You won't damage the plug unless some gorilla has driven it most of the way through the rear cover. I always use my powerbar, every so often I have to bust out the big 600mm bar to crack a plug that's been done up way too tight.

Yes there is a "special"tool

I have one tucked away at work somewhere

it looks like a dog bone with about 12 different size bung spanners on it

if u look closely at the bung the sides are not parallel but tapered

I use a 1/2 breaker bar as well

I have one of those too, and I've never used it. Come to think of it, I don't even know where it is!!

I have one of those too, and I've never used it. Come to think of it, I don't even know where it is!!

actually come to think of it i probably have the proper one at work to, we have a set with a whole heap of different size square and in-hex drives for diff plugs.

problem is they are usually done up real tight so you still need the power bar.

Driftrex how have u gone trying to find a 24mm 6 sided ring spanner for the toyota diff bungs i ended up making my own as I have been unable to source one (need one for the front diff of a AWD hiace )

we use a single hex half inch socket and a short power bar, can use a normal socket but we find most of them are done up tight so as you know you need a single hex to save rounding the plugs.

im gonna have a look today see if i do have the proper 13mm diff square drive.

well look at that i do have the 13mm square tool lol. sooo much quicker and easier to use the half inch power bar though

only issue with a 6 point socket is the front diff ones are to tight to get one in there

ah yea sorry, have a 24mm ratchet spanner for those if plug not too tight, its not single hex though.

Eh what? The front diff or gearbox is 21mm. I've always used a 1/2 inch deep socket and never had any trouble. Oh, and FYI, the later ones have gone to a T70 for the gearbox or front diff.

cant sell mine, belongs to my work and its part of a set.
