DIY air box

Just wondering if anyone has any designs for a DIY air box?

and by air box i mean this

i've had a wee read and people say to use fiberglass or aluminium.

i just want a design i can base off then decide if i want a easy fiberglass or a more complicated aluminum

I see two major problems, Problem One how would you get air to it? Bonnet vent? Problem two its on a mitsubishi

its not going to be exactly like that...

it will be more open but i was just posting a picture to show what i meant by air box

use the factory Cold Air intake Box...

some plumbing pipe to increase flow in = win

but i do have some fiberglass sheets and resin... so was going to make 1 up.

any1 got one they can give for freeez

Legacy you can find anything on TM... (well almost)

but its my spare sorry not for sale! i made holes in one of mine to incorporate extra intake from my modified bonnet scoop

i'll be designing/making a cold air box for my wrx once i get intercooler piping in so i know what room i have to work with, unfortunately it will be specific to my setup so wouldnt help you anyway.

well if you give me measurements of yours + pics i can easily change to the way i want..

can put a "made by driftrex" sticker on to show credit

Get a bit of cardboard and run it down the chassis rail from the strut tower to the headlight. Cut holes wherever something needs to go through it. Then, once everything fits, use the cardboard as a template and cut it out of a piece of alloy sheet. Put little flanges down the bottom and put rivnuts in the top of the chassis rail or use pre-existing threaded holes. Easy......

this is what i did. but i have never posted a pic on here so if you want a template made i can send you my one.

i dont have any cardboard laying around so couldnt do that..

my 1st design was in cardboard, it took a few goes in alloy to get it right, i will be making another one to suit the new setup.

edit: just got the pic.. is that just to sheets wielded together with 1 side having the bolt down and the other with the hole for hose to fit thru?

no its one piece of alloy, it has tabs bent on bottom and top(for a lid) the filter and afm bolt thru the alloy, so it supports the afm at the same time. i also sealed it so i can fill it with ice if i feel like it.
