Anyone know this model head unit?

Hey guys,

I'm not sure what's wrong with this head unit but it doesn't want to change from it's stand-by mode onto radio. I've tried resetting it and unplugging the positive terminal from the battery with no avail.

Any ideas?

Or anyone know this model of Sony head unit?

Yeah its most likely farked. does it do anything at all? do any of the buttons do anything? have you tried using a remote?

Buttons do nothing and there's no remote.

All the head unit does is show off it's features then the time. On an infinite loop

Weather its on demo or not you should still be able to turn it on. Have you got cup holders above your stereo per chance>?

@ Subout, yeah demo mode sounds like what it could be on, but getting it off it seems to be the problem.

I'd bet my left one that the buttons have moisture damage.

Think unscrewing the head and having a nosy is a good idea?

wouldnt hurt, but then it probably wont achieve anything either.

lol. yeah I had the same thing happen to me. Was a pretty expensive headunit when I bought it too.

Just ended up buying a cheapish JVC one.

Parallel Imported have some pretty mean deals. I picked up my Panasonic HU for $150. Radio, CD with MP3/WMA, rear input, triple RCA outs with sub control, remote... Damn good little unit IMO.

Yeah I have, the reset button just resets the time and the head unit just stays in Demo mode. Not to worry! As the car isn't driven much yet I'm not bothered about it.

Have you popped the faceplate off and on again and checked the faceplate connection pluggy thingee?

I had issues with my brand new chineese dvd headunit as the female side of the plug (headunitside) was loose and wasnt connecting properly.

Yup I've checked that the plugs aren't dirty or any dust getting stuck, all clean.

Anyone know of any good head units that are reasonably cheap, have sub control, custom eqs and aux or iPod input?? Pref under $300.
