Ive got an intermittant clacking noise in my right head..

I think it may be a lifter or valve issue, but its not constant and goes away most of the time when the cars warm.

Threw some pro-ma stuff in today,hopefully somethings just sticking or blocked.

What year, type of heads? Might not be a noise coming from your head, could be a piston noise...

Its loud enough to scare me, but definately sounds rocker coverish rather tahn blockish.

Its a 99 type r but has a v7 block and gtb heads I think. When it happens it starts to run rough, then it picks up again and runs smooth as. Doesnt sound like piston slap or normal lifter noise.

Im suspecting valve or rocker somethinish.

If the heads are from the same year as the car (offset bolt pattern on inlet manifold) they may be shim over bucket which have a higher likelyhood of throwing/breaking a shim, which could casuse the problem.

Those heads dont have rockers and as they are solid lifters Proma/MBL8 wont do anything to fix you problem if its in the head.

I'm not a mechanic though, I just read it on the interweb thingee

It has got 01 gtb heads in it, talked to the guy who built the engine today.

So far it looks like the proma may havedone th trick no noise today yet.

Needs a new head, looks like someone put the wrong headgaskets on it. >

Wont know till it comes off, but fingers crossed for no other damage. It runs smooth as most of the time so should be fine.
