i did get quoted for headgasket's at those prices yes,from different repairer's

But the mechanic i took my car to went through a series of checks to make sure it was the head gasket,but it wasn't like i said above it was the thermostat,he has removed it completely.He told me to drive it for a few weeks and then buy a new thermostat and take it back to him to get fitted!

So he charged me 280$ to run those test's to make sure it wasn't my headgasket!

So the mechanic says. TeeKay tests are basically useless on Subaru's, not sure why. I've seen plenty of well and truly blown HG's that don't show up with a TeeKay.

But if it is just a thermostat, then sweet, all good.

yeah the 92 GX i used to have had the same issues, went through the waterpump swap / thermostat etc but decided to do the head gaskets and plain the heads, was a good investment,

but yeah hopefully just a thermostat
