New speed cameras-K Band?

Not all the vans are equipped with the new cameras. They are still using the old ones also. There was an article on the new ones somewhere. Output from them is very low so near immpossible to detect at a good range. Here in Wellington they have a few.

hmmm disappointing lol, my radar is perfect without K band on, it only ever beeps at police men. Oooh weell looks like I have to change it. Oh and btw, NZ police dont use pop, I was speaking to a friend of mine whose a police officer (mind he's only been a police man in service for about 2 years) who said they just turn on the radar and it runs constantly, but I'm guessing if you turn it on and off quickly it'll do the same job

I know the camera van are definitely using k band around the Hamilton, Auckland area. Went to the v8's for the weekend, got flashed by a camera van on the way down. Bel sti didn't go off at all. (Bugger). Tuned the radar for k band on the way home, bumped into the same camera van on the way home, radar went crazy.

No, because electronic circuits need time to warm up and stabilise.

Same problem affects POP, hence it's suspect reliability.

Yes, new digital speedcameras use K-band, bastards as there is a lot of other crap using the same bandwidth.

From how long a distance did it go off? Could you see it when it started to go off?

Would have been around 300m over all. Camera van was just after a blind corner (couldn't see it when it went of), radar went off faintly before i went round then went crazy when the camera was in sight.

hmmm.

Thats not too bad, but probably enough to save yo ass!

You would have to react pretty fast though eh

My el cheapo from the states is known for its great Ka detection(why i got it) and it picks up highway patrol cars at quite a good distance 1km+ on a straight road sometimes!!!

Im not too confident about the new K band cameras though. Obviously the devious fuckers have specifically got them to fox us detector users!

i think thats a pretty good response for k band round a corner. It's an awesome radar for picking up Ka band. Have previously picked up camera vans 4km ahead on a reasonably straight road (Hamilton to Tauranga) when they where using Ka band. Likewise with police cars on the Tauranga express way.

What we need for the police to bring out is GPS tracking in their cars so they know where they all are (which will help them be more efficient in choosing who should go to each callout) and then someone to create something that can tell us where all the police cars are!

Its a win win situation, police win for being more efficient so they wont spend as much money (therefore they dont need to gather as many tickets) and we now know where they are too!

"Ive got a 187 in Glen Eden. Cops are all over it. We are good to race. I repeat, good to race"!!!

"Roads closed, pizza boy! Find another way home!!!"

Been covered many times before...

POP isn't used in NZ plus POP is unreliable,

So you don't need a detector with POP.

Bells 'n whistles usually compromises core performance so buy your V1 in confidence it will do a good job in NZ conditions.

That would be for a used unit ?

Most V1's are a bit more.

If you have your heart set on a used V1, make sure:

- it's not stolen !

-comes with all the original accessories

-check the firmware version

In fact it would be a good idea to read through the whole website before buying.

Otherwise, the Escort X50, BEL STI/XR are better detectors overall.

Just having a read through the thread, I have been passing the same van parked outside the same school 2-3 times a week(in Dunedin) for the last two weeks and my detector wont go off till im almost 20mts away, normally I get plenty of time so theres new cameras must be pretty hard to pick up.

Daammn! I drove past a Speed Camera Van today (Wasn't speeding because I saw him) and my Bel STi didn't pick him up, so I stopped, turned my K-Band on, did a U turn, and waddya know, it picks it up :-( laaamme, and it doesn't pick up a very strong signal either, oh well, at least its something, but I'd say its like laser, when you pick it up you're ******

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
