"Over boost"/ Cut out on 1986 Leone RXII

Just fitted a free flow big bore rear muffler on my RX2, but coming back from skiing the other day, overtook someone in 3rd, hit 4500rpm and it cut out on me...Have managed to get it to do it again in 2nd and 3rd gear at about the same revs... it seems it is when it is under load (obviously) It is boosting at about 6psi or so, not high but wonder if it is surging and obviously then cutting power...

any help or ideas??

yup it does :) the previous RX was an import it had a 180 k/m speed cut and a 12 psi boost cut (.8 bar ??? ) you could of been hitting boost cut with a spike as the turbo will wind up quicker with a freer exhasut and the factory boost controller may not operate quick enough :)

just try unplugging the map sensor and see if that solves it :)

Start with the Basic stuff, new plugs, new rotor in dizzy, new dizzy cap,new coil, new leads,

after that it starts to get difficult as there is NO information AFAIK about reading ECU codes ( well not that I have found) maybe try a different ECU,
