head gasket thickness?

so this .70mm is usless then?

not useless, just thicker than a standard phase 2 gasket, which considering you will be pushing more boost into it, isnt such a bad idea.

I would try keep the compression up over lowering it when ever possible. run a little less boost and make the same power and have better responce/driveability off boost.

People doing turbo conversions to Nissan SR20DE engines follow the same principle. High compression NA engines + small turbos running low boost (~0.5bar) give really good throttle response and midrange, even if the dyno numbers aren't as impressive as a laggier, harder hitting factory SR20DET with mild tuning.

Whats the difference though? Is that folded over bit on the Cosworth's much different to the normal fire rings on steel head gaskets? I haven't even looked to see if STI ones have the thickness I'm after either :-[

Will do that when it comes time to actually order some though.

Simon C, Your theory on the SR20DE+T is a little out dated now.

We commonly push up to 14psi on stock DE motors on 98 pump gas and the engines produce very simlar numbers to DET motors if not better and they are just as reliable as DET engines. Its all down to the tune.

We have run 18psi through a stock SR20DE+T on E85 fuel and ran almost 300kw for a whole drift season. The only thing that killed the engine was when the guy rolled the car and didn't top up the water and then drifted another 2 events, so eventually blew the headgasket due to having a air lock in the block.

Cometic are half the price though. I don't want to pay all that extra cash just for a logo thats going to get sandwiched between the block and the heads.

You still get to see the awesome logo ;D

haha OK just cause of that I'm going to change my preference for which gaskets to buy ;D

Might have to re-route some hoses to clear the view too!

Back to Cometic again as they have the 0.051" gaskets I think I want.....

Might check the STI catalogue for similar thickness.

Could always just lasercut some logo into the gasket before installing ;)

"KOOMWORTH" yeah!!

hmmm...... that'd be worth a laugh!

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
