If there is no Thermostat does the car drink more fuel?

Hey guys i have noticed in the past month after my thermostat was removed due to Heating issues,that the car drink's alot of fuel and i have been filling up 95.

Although the Temp Gauge stays below half On Cool,I have no heating issues any more

But i drive it say 2-3 times a week and put in 20-40$ and hardly drive around 25-30k,

And i have an empty tank.

So i went in to supercheap today and bought me a thing called "Wynns,Spit fire,Injector Cleaner" And "Engine Flush"

Do you think that will do any good and make my car stop Drinking so much fuel

I spend an easy 160$ in 2 week's because of the amount of gas it's drinking,And i have no idea why,or is it normal being a B4(I hardly ever put the foot down though)and try to drive it as slow as possible using tiptronic.

So please let me know what i can do so my car consume's less fuel,Put the thermostat Back in?

I'd say it will be using more fuel cos it will take quite a while to get to optimal temp, and defniatly start but putting themostat back in.

thermostats arnt an expensive item to replace dude, id suggest getting one. But think about it tho each time your car starts the computer has a preprogrammed fuel map and when it gets no/low signal it runs rich like matt said so as it heats up its still getting no sgnal and the computer still thinks its cold even tho it isnt

so it never changes the fuel map hence why your eating fuel like a hippy snorting on coke

thermostats arnt an expensive item to replace dude, id suggest getting one. But think about it tho each time your car starts the computer has a preprogrammed fuel map and when it gets no/low signal it runs rich like matt said so as it heats up its still getting no sgnal and the computer still thinks its cold even tho it isnt

Cheap as chips.. Ive brought them for 10 to 30 dollars. I think my SVX one from subaru cost about 25 or 29. Also got a wee rubber gasket that came with it. I cant remember if that cost. Not much tho if it did.

Thermostats dont fail that much in subarus its usually the blocked heater core.

something so small but if it stays shut and u keep driven the temp gets very hot, can be a big problem then
