what is jdm v9 sti and nz new v9 sti difference??

Hi guys,

just wondering if there is any difference between the jdm v9 sti and nz new v9 sti,

i know both are 2.0 instead of the 2.5, how about other stuff like the turbo etc...

how about the specification?

also what to look for when buying one

The JDM has everything including the kitchen sink (usually) and the NZ new has everything minus everything excluding the kitchen sink

In all reality specs would differ depending on what boxes were ticked at the dealer in Japland

JDM version STI (I think) 2L and NZDM is 2.5L (same spec as Aus version)???

No, both were 2.0L. The fatso 2.5L engine was only on the V10 onwards.

The only definite difference that I'm aware of is that the NZ model came sprayed with data dots. Subaru started doing this with all the New Age Imprezas because of the appalling reputation for theft that the WRX had at the time of the Bugeye's introduction.

I'm not sure if the NZ models came with a retuned ECU, although I suspect they might have because they needed to be able to run 96 octane, vs 100 octane in Japan.

hmm... i am getting confused here, do we get the detuned version like aussie did which is only 195kw or we still get the 206kw version, been searching around the net and subaru nz did says that nz does have the 206kw but on the redbook website, it says only 195kw same for the bug eye as well..... ???

Dunno, but I wouldn't worry about it since they all make different power anyway, and if you are worried about

power you're going to get it retuned anyway right?

We got JDM version all the way up to V10, when we got the 2.5L Aussie tuned one. The grey import Aussie GC8 STis used to detonate all the time with their crappy petrol + high intake temperatures, so the official Aussie 2.0L engines all got detuned to compensate. Hence why the Aussie S15 turbo only makes ~160kw, and their STi V7 was only rated for ~190kw. They've since gotten better octane petrol at their pumps, I believe.

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
