Help please...leaking coolent water onto engine..

Hey guys will try keep this brief.. After a bit of help..I have a BG5 legacy GT that has all of a sudden developed a leak around or below the header tank maybe? Ok it started a couple of days ago when i noticed a brownish small puddle below my car..Checked the engine and noticed a pool of water sitting on top of the block below the inlet manifold..Also the day before I got a CEL with a code 21 coolant temp sensor..Have pulled the alternator off to get a better look but dont see anything there. the header tank is empty and once filled it slowly empties itself..

Ok has anyone else had a similar problem? What are the likely causes and what should I start pulling off to investigate? also the code 21.. would this trigger if no coolant is going past the sensor?

Cheers guys

Ok cheers DrunkenMonkey.. have pulled the header tank off and found the leak..its where the hose that connects the header tank to the smaller pipe meets? I dont know what its called, where it attaches to etc.. I have trouble shooted with the hose and its definitely not the hose its the actual point of connection. Ive have tried with different hose clamps but the actual end of the coolent pipe is a bit corroded and not getting a good enough seal.. what are my options here? to get a replacement metal pipe (dont know hat it is or how big) or use a sealant and extreme hose clamps to get a good seal? cheers

I had a similar problem found the water was travelling through the layers of rubber in the hose after spending ages with sealant and hose clips might be worth a try?

why would you piss around with sealant etc? buy a new bit of hose from repco

Im not pissing around with the hose as its not the hose thats the problem. Its the connection between the hose and the metal pipe. They are not forming a perfect seal for some reason and its leaking like a sieve. Ive tried other hoses on it and the same thing happens. It looks like the metal pipe is slightly corroded so Ive given it a light sand and it still leaks. Do I need to fit an undersize hose?

Ok update..with further investigating and testing Ive found a very small hole right on the second nib of the metal pipe..so right at the end where the rubber hose finished..so now I can either pull the manifold off and find a replacement or patch it up with some sort of chemi weld..Ideally I know what I would do but is chemi weld just as good an option?

Can you push the hose onto the pipe further? over the "nib" ? then hose clip it there so it won't leak as a temporary measure i would recommend replacing it though, don't want to risk overheating also if your water was brown you will want to do a cooling system flush best thing ive found is a dishwashing tab dont use one with the powerball thing!! when you fix the leak chuck it in your radiator hose full up with water and drive it. then drain it out. i was told this trick by a engine reconditioner works way better than any flush from repco etc

Just replace the unit and dont feck around.

They are a piece of piss to replace!

THIS

replace the steel pipe, do not piss around with trying to mickey mouse your cooling as u will end up with a cooked engine at the least

Do it Right Do it Once

new gaskets mate . there compression gaskets so one use unless you gasket gooo them which is ugly and possibly wont last.

there not much i got mine from bnt for 16 bux .

dont tell anyone on here i didnt use genuine tho ;D

genuine would be the way to go tho . ill be replacing soon after a loom replacement.

cheers guys all the help is appreciated. How hard is it to get this manifold off and keep the gaskets reusable..It looks like this thing is friggen connected everywhere..

Bit of a mission on twin turbo esp the L/H rear manifold bolt

Be very careful not to drop anything into the ports, check they are free from debris before assembly !

Def fit NEW gaskets and clena old gasket of heads and manifold

Also replace the coolant manifold Orings - common to leak

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
