locked 4wd = blowing lots of s*** up....

locked center diff / removed front shafts = no need for cert...ask cp93 hes the one who aproached the ltsa or whoever about it and got told u dont need a cert for it

We shall see :) we have heard both stories so we shall see :)

mine still had the front cv's and got a wof.... but im pretty sure if it was noticed i would need to get a cert. and after driving a rwd wrx for a while i'd like to think people who did this mod got a cert...due to the change in vehicle dynamics

Edit:spelling

i think the better way to do it would be lock the centre and remove the crown-wheel this way if anyone looks underyour car it looks factory as it leaves the front axles and everything in place.

thanx fo the info

i reckon its not that good to remove the crown wheel as alot of people have said that it splashes oil around the box for lubrication...but do it whichever way u want to they all work

maybe, but if your going for a stealth(read:no cert) rwd setup, surely having axles there will help the illusion at warrant time

Then do it this way;

or when u have the centre diff out to have it welded get them to cut the drive spline to the front diff off :) saves having to split the box, and then if u want to go back to AWD u only need to replace the centre diff :)

Saves splitting the box for same (better??) end result.

i agree with Koom as that is how i done mine and it only took half an hour to remove my center diff, then half an hour to pull it to bits and clean it for welding, then 5mins to weld it properly with industrial mig, then took it to and engineer who cut the female spline dead on the mark while i waited, then half an hour to reasemble. And the gr8 thing is i can convert back to awd by buying a $60 center diff and chucking it backin! The otherway is a complete gearbox out splitting mission id imagine?

I also took the inner cvs and shafts out as the seals are in the box around male output splines so oil wont leak and took the cages out of the outer cvs so they were bare. Now i have legaly(i think, certing will tell)dissabled the front diff from spinning, hence now not splashing any unneccessary oil around causing drag(altho very minimal drag).

and just so i havnt gone too far off topic ill add that yes you will have to get rwd low volume certed unless your mechanic never pics up on the fact lol....keeping the shafts in will help ;).

you will get it when you take the center diff out and put 2 and 2 together. You wil then know where to cut it.....knew i should taken pics of everything i done!

has anyone ever got a cert for a Locked/welded diff?

I did no think it was even possible LEGALLY

I know you just cant get a plain-jane wof with a locked diff

Are you taking about a locked/welded "Centre" diff or are you talking about a locked/welded diff i.e. in the rear end of a RWD car?

friggit I should read more

yea RWD locked diff was what I meant - non-compliable - sorry for con-fusing the threads

id say you would never get a cert for a RWD vehicle that has had its diff welded, its just far far too dangerous especially in the wet, it was illegal when i was issuing wofs 7yrs ago, im sure it will still be the same now. However if it was done in an AWD vehicle it may be different as you have the front to back the rear up, but id still say its illegal (i could be wrong tho, been too long out of the game for me)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
