with the cigarette lighter plugs.. it might be a bit difficult.

for example. with iPhone USB cables, you normally need a 5V source in order for it to charge..

so most cigarette lighter plugs will have some form of DC-DC convertor to bring 12V->5V..

I would try and pull it apart.. There would be some form of PCB.

Find out where the 12V inputs are.

Find a small plastic box to contain the PCB... solder wires where the 12V from the cig adapter goes.. and hardwire it to your ACC source behind the dash..

Sorry if its vague. but it's what i'd do in my mind..

The ciggy lighter won't have the convertor, the charger would. otherwise anything else needing a 12V input wouldn't work.

I've hard-wired many things in the past and have always used the ignition and earth wires that the stereo use, as they are often the easiest to find and access, I'm not keen on chopping up the wires under the steering column.

You can use the same method for your GPS so you can hard-wire that in as well, freeing up your ciggy lighter plug altogether.

Hardwire a 240v power inverter to the battery and use your household chargers :)

+1 :) I run a inverter in my truck for various things :)I also run a total of 4 ciggy adapters also run a dedicated 5v usb port :)

U could run another ciggy lighter and hide it up under dash and just plug your adapter in :)

That would be the best way to do it.

I think 4x4 Aus did a write up on how to install one a while ago, have the article somewhere too if the OP is interested.

Why not install an additional lighter socket in a glovebox? That way you can plug more 12V devices in discreetly. Get the sockets with the rubber covers, so stuff doesn't short it out when not in use.

The ACC/IGN feed off the ignition barrel is a better source for power, it will be fused much higher than the 10A for the stereo - which can easily be overloaded. Where ever you take the feed from, make sure it's fused as close as possible to the feed (and not at the socket end).

Or get a longer USB lead and hide the 12V charger bit behind the stereo console, and route the wires where you want them

I first thought glove box too but he did mention on drivers side so I changed it :)

in todays cars one power supply is never going to be enough :) wait until u have kids :) then u need like 20 in the back as well :)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
