Exhaust options

Ok so I had a rangi ass axle back section that came with my car, had a nice sound but was rusted to hell so I replaced it with a standard STi muffler/rear section.

Problem is now it's about as quiet as your mums HX20 and doesn't have the subaru rumble at idle..

Is it possible to modify the standard system to make it louder or am I going to have to replace some bits?

get another rear section.

or maybe if you put a downpipe with the cat removed.

or remove the piece of mid section that has a resonator on it

I have a complete 2.5" exhaust from turbo to rear,has ONE cannon style rear muffler MAY NOT PASS WOF for being to loud, so may need either a new rear section(like yours maybe) or a centre resonator....

Straight through 3 inch from turbo back makes a mean rumble with standard headers

from a cat-back full 3 inch system (consisting of 1x resonator and the Blitz Realize TT muffler)...

changing the downpipe to a catless one made only a very small difference...

loudness was the same.. but the note was slightly more aggressive..

i'd look at first, replacing mufflers with resonators down your exhaust route... and then getting a sensible muffler for the rumble..

If you want the most you can get out of it then get either a divorced or siamese down pipe in 3 inch (helps greatly with spool time) . . . And a 3 inch as straigt as possible exhaust from there on . If loud isnt your thing add resonators etc . . But I noticed a massive difference changing mine
