not really

there's a good $500 in materials (piping, flanges, gaskets, oil feed line and fittings)

and a s*** load of labour (strip current turbo setup, make downpipe, make up-pipe, make intake pipe, refit all parts)

true at a shop my bad but blimey ! the gains aren't worth that..... better off with a possum link :D

Fit a real turbo (rather than a weeny factory VF) and then see some real gains ;D

Depends, for one if you aren't exactly mechanically minded like myself lol and have a knack for breaking crap when I try to be a mechanic. ;D And if your setup is including a much larger turbo at some point as Koom said. ;)

$400 landed in NZ off eBay isn't exactly Oprah money :P

Problem I have is that it takes me 4 hours to remove the damn thing. So it took 4 days to build the up-pipe and downpipe for it. Going to lift it higher this time round to find some space.

What your turbo was 400 landed? What kind is it?

Holset HX35w with 12cm hotside. Lots of them for cheap on eBay and easily rebuildable. If you feel that it's not giving enough power you then buy bits of an HX40 and build a hybrid for not much more.

Were/are you happy with yours? Did you build a hybrid? How much power can it support?

With the first setup I had it on, it had a rather high threshold. i.e. 5.5k rpm. But that was a twin scroll turbo sitting on a single scroll manifold. Once I get it set up properly this time round (spending time and money on it this time rather than just time) I'm confident that it'll give me a decent amount of power. If it can reach 300kw I'll be happy but I will need a better ECU and injectors to do that but keeping the Possumlink until I've run it in as I know it runs.

I didn't build a hybrid as I felt the compressor maps I felt were about right for a 2.0L. I think the hybrid might suit a 2.5L better?

There's a multitude of Holset's out there for cheap but can be hit and miss on what you are actually buying. They come of big diesel pickups so often have massive hotsides. There's a few different turbo's in their range I wouldn't mind playing with if I had the spare coin.

very interesting. yeah i've done the big twin scroll on a single manifold, it's really not a good idea lol.

i imagine even twin scroll mani with a 12cm will still be a bit average on a 2.0

look forward to seeing your results!

So am I! Has been a while since I last drove it and I've finally gotten withdrawals and motivation to get it up and running. Hopefully spending tomorrow morning in the workshop to get the crank in the block with the help of Tony at RDL then I'll be needing to spend a few weekends fabricating stuff for it. I just want to get the threshold to somewhere in the 4-5k rpm region and I'll be happy as a pig in sh**. The top end is going to be good no matter what ;D haha

Mines got Brembo's now too. Thought I'd just put that out there :P

how much boost did you run through it on your last setup? even with the rediculously long spool time, it'll have been an indication of what power will be like when setup properly

It was running good at about 24psi. The resolution on the Possumlink was the MAJOR limiting factor. I was out playing with it at 27psi one day for fun (friday afternoons were our tuning the RS evenings) while trying to keep the injectors below 110% ;D (740cc's and they maxed out around 25psi at the top end of the revs) and it popped the headgasket. I'd had a leaking issue for a long time as it slowly drank water but I didn't rebuild it before shoving a million psi down its throat.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
