I doubt those FWD boxes are very strong. They're designed to put 1.5L or 1.6L of fail to the ground, not a 2.0 turbo's worth of EPIC WIN :-\

And it's easy enough to break a standard AWD 5MT with one simple lapse of good judgement and snap stuff.

The N/A driveshafts are pretty wussy from what I've seen, at least for those little fullas. And again yeah, you can make the turbo stuff go BANG with a good bit of punishment (I've done a rescue mission for someone who's done just that, lol). So I could foresee someone wanting to stop nanna'ing their epic project and put their potentially 300chp through to two single wheels on an old N/A box... mmmmm metal porridge ;D

AFAIK the FWD boxes are for little N/As only. Doubt they're built to handle even what I put to the ground with the HX20s (if someone has a spare box, I'm thoroughly willing to test that theory ;D)

Ive thought some guys had used the front wheel drive gearboxs in mid engined race car projects. ive even heard that the early legacy gboxs that you could swap the gears etc from something like a rs or gt in to the fwd box and even fit A Front LSD in.

Been emailing them asking alsorts o questions. She said the rear seats were original then said na they werent but not to ask anymore questions as its now sold.

Said i did some research and was originally a retna and 1.5l and fwd. She wasnt friendly in here reply but said she didnt know but was imported as a wrx. So must have been done overseas.

Weird it wasnt picked up at the border as been modified and having to be totally certd.

Yeap next door neighbor is building a single seater (formula ford chassis) with subaru running gear, uses a closed deck block with a tdo5 hanging off each side so must be going 2 make good power and its running a fwd subaru box with beefed up internals, massive rear slicks on it too so be interesting to see how it holds up when he finaly gets it on the track

Ive thought off doing a rd llegal lil 2 seater race car that is RWD and Mid engined.

I should Go and chase up those plans for it
