The Retna also came with an 1800 and a 2.0, and you could get a four wheel drive. I saw an import for sale not long ago that had an 1800 and the gear stick switchable four wheel drive like that of the NZ new Justy.

Ive seen some Retnas with 1500, 1600 engines too.

there was one for sale at a car sales. it was mint but the price they wanted was so high that you could spend another couple of grand and buy a type R ::)

Nope.

First one was the MY97 WRX STi Version III Type R.

Retna was announced late 1994 as a MY95 model and went on sale January 1995.

Four models;

FWD 1.5, manual or auto.

4WD 1.6, manual or auto.

Best/most powerful Retna was the MY95 USDM Sport Coupe with 135bhp Legacy 2.2L, auto only.

Why didnt they offer a turbo coupe in 1995 then? wouldnt it been a good idea in the rallying at the time?

Or where they spending 95 and 96 getting any probs sorted out for racing in 97?

They probably never thought of it as they had won both the 1995/96 Manufacturers' and 1995 Drivers' Championships with a 4-door WRX, under Group A rules.

In 1997 they switched to new WRC rules, which meant no longer having to build 2500 homologation cars.

Manufacturers could build more specialised cars as long as they were based on a production model.

Subaru also recognised the marketing benefits and released the first STi coupe at the same time as the new WRC rally car.

It's bloody annoying how they make them so expensive. Subtract 2 doors, add $3k to the asking price! It's not like 1.5L or 1.6L is going to do you much good. And that much for just a shell...ouch.

That said...I'd have one to molest anyway ;D

Hi there,

The "WRX" is registered as a WRX, that is what it is. And please ask your friend who emailed us this morning regarding the rest.

The rebuild cost is average for what it was, we don't know what the V1/2 is but it is a WRX engine. A bloody good one. And naturally, I have all of the reciepts! Its not exactly an amount one would spend on such a thing and not keep receipts is it?

It has never been an automatic so that comment was quite left field.

Km's on the body are 130,000 and the k's on the gear box (rebuilt) are as per the ad.

Any more interest can be taken as a test drive or an offer.

Any other emails with incorrect info and inverted comma's suggesting anything other than an authentic car sale, can be kept to oneself.

Kind regards,

lol can see between the speedo and the rev counter where the gear position lights used to be-definately an ex-auto

pretty defensive.....

It isn't certified for the mags as yet but will be at time of sale.

huh?!?! since when do you need to cert rims?

Yes. Ive had to do mine on my old Accord when i did the suspension. The concern was the amount of turns i had on the wheel nuts with the mags i had on it. I needed 6 and 3/4 turns and i was only getting 6 and 1/2. If you think about it, its pretty ****. Its only half a mm but thems the rules. I had Korean made mags and i needed to get the hub skimmed off to get the required turns out of them. Otherwise it was gonna be longer studs. And he also checked it didnt effect the 10% speedo thing.

Massive drama.

And onewould suggest the motor is a very early type

EJ20G

EJ20G fall in to 2 categories -early engines 1989-9/1996 -late wagon and automatic sedans from 1994/1996 and later

to identify an early EJ20G

Coil on plug

Divorced idle air wer q

Late model EJ20Gs are the same general design as the EJ20K 3a q3t Usage:

Legacy RS 89-93

Legacy RS-RA 89-93

Legacy GT 89-93

Impreza WRX 92~96

Impreza WRX Wagon 92~98

Impreza WRX STi 94~96

227 hp (169 kW) @ 4000 rpm

I would also suggest the current owner doesnt know about the conversions done or is being ignorant trying to sell.

WOF has lapsed so that makes me think hes selling it because he HAS to for whatever reason. And it was definately at some point a auto. Weird to as being bought in as a sedan but is a coupe. Would like to see more of the carjam or lemoncheck as i would think there would be more mismatches.

Its just stupid to deny that its not a bitsa. theres never been a two door turbo coupe before 97 so why would this be the only one?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
