What are they meaning by this?..I've already been done for noise in my wrx and had to have a new flange fitted in the exhaust system, but this sounds like they are on about the noise of a B.O.V?..

Yea it looks like they are planning to ban bov's from venting to atmo, and will need to be plumbed back

yep basically not atmo venting nor probably exposed air filters (pods) similar to some Australian states

saying no BOV's is a waste of time cos it wont work - they do plumb back ya know...

AFAIK there are NO performance benefits from creating what is essentially an Exhaust leak (unless someone has some data I am open to persuasion)

It is a leak, but not an exhaust leak! There are no benefits at all. But I still think that outlawing them is pointless and doesn't actually achieve anything good. It's a complete waste of parliments time and resources.

OK, how i see this is, that this also means that all heavy trucks that use air to operate their brakes must be banned also.

BOV as we all know is only venting compressed air, just the same as truck brakes

What's the difference??

external vent do offer minimal perf benefit to high spec engines, driven hard. Set up without AFM

allowing lower intake charge temp just after venting ( gear change )

I agree the noise fro truck brakes and for that matter buses is offensive!!!

I think all externally vented compressed air systems should be banned!!!

Oh wait does that mean petrol stations cant have compressed air anymore... how are we going to pump our tyres up?

I have a question

my car never came with a BOV from factory

it now has one

venting to atmo

and runs well

so it not even designed to be plumbed back

and the PPPPPPPSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTT is so sweeeeeet

and trucks air brake release is usually WAY louder

especially when I make sure that they vent externally by removing the filters

not hard to induce a PSSHT under no load - even during "objective" noise test if carried out
