Best place in Welly for new tyres?

Hi Guys,

I'm heading upto Whakapapa in a couple of weeks and i've decided I'll need 2 new tryes before I hit the snow!

Being new to NZ, i'm not sure where is the best/cheapest place to go?

This could be a little cheeky but has worked.

How about going into Firestone, pick the tires you want and get them quoted up. Then take the quote to Tony's Tyre Service and see if they can beat that price. Then go back to Firestone and see whether they can beat Tony's price. You could also add Beaurepaires to the list.

yeap, shop around... tonys has a $10 per tyre gaurentee to be cheaper, as does beaurepairs i think.... multiple quotes ftw!

I personally use Firestone in U/hutt... Great service, sharp prices first time, no BS.

Mind you I have been dealing with them for 20+ years now (two of the guys there have been there most of that time too)

Replace 4 tyres at a time on Subaru, this keeps tyre rolling circumfernce in check

Tony's is good for Bridgestone Potenza RE-001, a popular choice and good all-round tire for daily driving. They will do a good deal if you're replacing all 4. Rick made a good comment earlier, but I usually replace all 4 regardless.

Apparently I get discount at Beaurepairs through work, so I think I'll nip in and see exactly how much discount.

I always use Dave Hadley Tyres in lower hutt, but I get looked after as I'm a courier, I use Michelins on my van, normally retail for over $250 per corner and I pay $150 fitted and ballanced. Doesn't sound that cheap I hear you say? I get 80-100,000kms!!!! out of a set with my custom wheel alignment.

yes you read correctly and they are passenger tyres, asymmectrical too so really quiet.

I do have my toe set at zero which makes the van a little "floaty" but get alot longer life out of the tyres
