STI RA vs Spec C - Differences?

Recommended Posts

Ver 7 STI's were built over 2 model years, the MY01 and MY02

the lightweight model in MY01 was the WRX STI RA.

MY02 didnt have the "STI RA" but in fact the STI RA Spec C.

the MY01 was homologated for group n but the spec c wasnt (until the v9)

depending on options ticked upon purchase both "Probably" come from factory with

-roof vent

- non abs

-Subaru brakes not brembo

- 16" wheels

- dccd

and the RA had the VF30 turbo, while the Spec C had the VF34.

to be sure i would get the applied model codes or the chassis number and run it through here http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php?topic=60.0

Ok so I've seen this car on Trademe. Advertised as an RA, not a Spec C. Doesn't have the little Spec C sticker.

So can anyone tell what the definitive differences are?

http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=214370357

And there's also this one

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=146455354

Ok, so, the first one is NOT a 2002 model, it is a 2001 RA.

The second one is NOT a PRODRIVE edition, as these came with the WRC front bumper, vented bonnet and Blue dash cluster...

Pays to check the tags before buying from a dealer as most of them know jack all!

When i brought my RA Spec C, the dealer thought it was an RA only...

He also couldn't figure out why i didn't want the 18 inch CHOMES he'd fitted... :D

buying a spec c and then fitting it with chromies is a FAIL!!

haha

and I bet you cant guess what Sc00b wants to do with it...

(load it with sound gear!)

Yeah well a Spec C loaded with sound gear will still be lighter than a standard STi loaded with sound gear haha!

Nah it'll be a minimal sound install. Something that will sound nice but not have to boom all the neighbours out!

Any decent money spent will be on performance and handling mods :)

Different focus for a different kind of peformance car :)

And yeah I also saw the one on 20's hahaha.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
