BH5 Legacy, Non Turbo to Single Turbo Conversion Questions

Hi,

So I've done a older legacy single turbo conversion before.

But now I have a forged STI V4 Engine, w V3 Manifold and sensors to suit a v1 - v2 loom and ecu. The motor has about 5000km's on it, all Wisco, race bearings, high volume oil pump, custom td05 20g turbo, 600cc injectors, old link plus ecu, front mount, fuel pump etc. The motor and STI gearbox came out of my crashed RS legacy. The RS was running a V1 STI computer but I have the link there as well.

So the second half, a 1999 BH5 Legacy Wagon (auto, 2.0l SOHC). The Auto Box is dying (really fast). So I thought putting the two halfs together is a good idea.

Bolting the motor up and converting it to manual is not a problem. My questions are in relation to wiring, ECU and Manifolds. I contract to a Subaru Wrecker so have access to pretty much what ever parts I want. But I am a student and don't have much cash to throw at paying someone to wire it up, especially considering I would like to get it tuned afterwards.

- What is the best intake manifold to use? What sensors?

- What is the latest model intake manifold that will bolt up to my V4 STI block?

- What ECU should I use? Where can i find pin out diagrams for a non turbo legacy?

- Should I just bolt it all up and spend the money on a new aftermarket ECU and Tune?

Any advice or suggestions would be great.

Best thing i could suggest is contacting Abdul as I'm sure he runs a v4 sti engine in his Legacy and that thing is awesome. Not sure of his username but possibly B4 2000 i think. Good luck mate.

I did the conversion for abdul, there was a lot of work in the wiring, had to use a link g4 storm wire in and mated it to the stock loom. engine loom is custom to

Am i right in saying that when putting a much more powerful engine into a car that wasn't designed for it, it'd be best to upgrade the brakes and suspension etc? I'm not in the least mechanically minded but logic would say yes? Nice jb on Abdul's car by the way.

yep and most probably the rear diff to match the gear box etc etc...

Yes and no, just a basic single conversion and a bit extra power for road use the standard brakes are fine, but if planning a bit of track use then 4pots are a good upgrade. With my bh i just fitted 4pots and tein suspension, easy.

However converting a non turbo will need a lot more work, if your poor don't even attempt. even doing the work your self there are a lot of costs, if you don't have the money to spend you will skimp and cause big problem later on.

I have the big brakes, adjustable suspension etc aswell. I might just fit it and buy a link. or sell it and get a turbo shell or something. Thanks for the input!
