eg33 engine into 96 legacy wiring question

Hey, if you have missed my previous posts I recently aquired a 96 gtb legacy which I plan on putting an eg33 svx engine into as the legacy engine has a cooked headgasket and I want something a little different.

The only problem im having is sourcing a svx engine. I have found one but it doesnt come with an engine loom and therefore I have this question.

Again all knowledge is from what I have read online as this is my first subaru and im not a mechanic. I just read and learn then attempt and celebrate.

This is just a thought I had from what I read online. An eg33 engine is basically an ej22 with an extra 2 cyl added on the front of it. So would I be able to get an ef22 loom from say an older obd1 legacy and then just add in the wiring for the extra 2 injectors and be away laughing or did they do a whole different set of sensors etc on the engines?

Does anyone know if the ecu plugs are the same between the legacy and the svx? Dont care about the order the wires are in just could I get a legacy ecu plug and fit that into an svx ecu and rewire that?

I may have an engine loom off one of my eg33 motors. As I'm using a g4 extreme for my project so will be making own loom. just need engine loom?

Really need the loom from the engine to the ecu. You wouldnt happen to have one would you? How much would you want for it?

Rex-leggy: going to make a loom based on the svx loom and modify that to make a stand alone ecu kind of like a skyline then just add in the 6 or 7 wires I need from the chassis loom.

We are borg, From what I read with an ez30 you require an aftermarket header/custom header and also you need to get the stock ecu modified to remove the built in immobilizer. Am I wrong in thinking this? and on top of that the extra cost to purchase a newer engine.

I know when we did the eg33 into a bf5 one of the issues we came up against was the exhaust routing as the exhaust header from the passenger side head went straight into the cross member and was going to be a pain in the arse to get around, I am guessing you will have the same issue.

should be some extra room there

Mmmmm could well be, should have a look at the tt cross members I have here and see, also was an issue with the sway bar as well

I had the same issue with my bc5 with the ez30 and I used a na crossmember made life alot easier

Not to mention that the Eg33 was to long to allow the use of the factory radiator in the factory position.

there was 3 real issues we had exhaust/radiator and the wiring.

got it running but never more than that

Will have a quick read of that when I get home but I have a feeling I have read it. Plan on using a volvo radiator as it can fit in the gap under the radiator support panel.
