BE B4 Speaker advice

Hi,

Looking to upgade the speakers in my 2001 Rev D B4. Does anyone have any experience with these?

What size do they have front and rear, size limitation of magnets to watch out for etc?

16cm speakers like Pioneers, alpines, Sony etc will go straight in. Modern speakers with big magnets may require you to chip off the weather shield

I think most aftermarket speakers will require you to cut off the weather shield unless you get really cheap ones that will probably be no better, if not worse than the factory ones.

Also, if you get really flash ones with huge magnets you might find the window hits the speaker magnet when you wind it down.

Yes, a window that doesnt go down is not ideal. I see Alpine have recently released some grunty components

with smaller magnets, hoping these might be the go.

hey man what you looking at putting in?

you can put alot of different opitions in you just need a spacer or try and get a couple of the front door mounts and modify to suit! usually its just a simple cut or sand

I got a rev b and im sure their the same but the fronts are 6inch and the rears 5.25

but you might have a 6x9 on the left hand side

try the new rockfords their a nice and sound and fit in mine

Hey have been looking at Alpine SPR17C's but havent made a decision yet.

Gonna pull the door trim off tomorrow and have a look. Get an idea for what space I have etc.

What rockfods did you get?

I see that the punch P162C's are very shallow, could be an easy fit.

the door speaker are built into the mount that they use. You can either take the whole thing out and mount to the door but with this way you need to make sure clearance behind door to window is enough. (only front doors though rears are fine cause they are on an angle) If you keep the existing speaker mount you can cut around the edge of existing speaker and it pops out then cut the backing off the mount so your speaker can fit in properly screw it in and away you go.

I just bought two sets, currently running them in. Nice sounding speakers. Not too high pitched 'harsh' treble. Nice sound.

Get two sets. Just use the woofers in the rear - leave the tweeters out.

You won't find better speakers for $150!
