Easiest way to reduce muffler noise

Hi All

I got a 2003 Subaru Legacy GTB (BP Model) It came with Twin STI Genome mufflers, Sounded quite nice, Just had the downpipe replaced by Subtech to this:

"The pipes themselves are 2 1/2 inch mandrell bent mild steel exhaust tube with a separate waste gate pipe for greater flow. "

Now my car sounds like a giant fart cannon whenever I give it my heavy foot, I had to drive like my nana just to keep it semi quiet, I got a feeling my next wof = fail, unless I get pulled over first.

Should I get silencers welded in to the mufflers (if that's possible) or is there another way to quiet them down

yeah weld in a couple reso's underneeth. Louvered ones will quietn it the most but not so great for flow. Wouldnt worry too much bout using louvered ones in somthing pretty standard tho

Resonators and mufflers underneath would be the way to go if you want to quieten it down. Noise is a by product of a performance exhaust, just please sweet God don't weld or cut or in anyway tamper with the beauty of a Genome muffler!

chuck a 19inch resonater in her mate and should make a big diffrence in sound and have a nice purr, and I also have the genome muffler, 2 1/2'' front to back.

Haha no thanks, took me a couple months finding a BP model with this exhaust

Stupid question but is the factory mid pipe on the BP models 2" or 2.5" coz I found a couple on trademe, As I still have the factory midpipe, Only upgraded downpipe

Go with the COBY buddy trust me, I bought the black one on the link an imo its s*** quality. And if you live in Auckland go to MR MUFFLER in Onehunga, he done my exhaust for a good price, way cheaper than Pit Stop quoted me. $90 to get resonater and Genome muffler fitted and replaced most the mid-pipe that was riddled with rusty lil holes. Get in quick though cause hes always booked up specially before xmas, just ask for Dean.

Thanks luvmaforzzy, Dean wasn't there but Ian was extremely helpful

He is going to remove the factory resonator and put in a 19" and 16" Coby Resonator tomorrow

I drive through onehunga so much completely forgot about mr muffler lol

I rev'd my car for him quite high and he said "s*** that sounds like an RX8" So my reply was "Fix it!!!" lol

He also looked at the above down pipe and was quite impressed at the quality of it, so props to Subtech
