hello hello. I've tried searching every where in this site regarding my legacy after full cam belt replacement and with the new water pump still leaks coolant and still over heats. Any ideas or any comment or any solutions would ideal. Its a 2.5 litre non turbo 96. Thanks guys i really do appreciate it so much. ..

Whats the colour of your oil? How long does it run before over heating?

Could be headgasket.

When it's hot, do you have hot air coming out of your heater? If you have overheated it a few times it will have rooted your HG

wheres it leaking from? of course a water leak will cause it to over heat

Like people are asking...where is the leak from? there are heaps of other places for coolant to leak from apart from the water pump. Did they replace the thermostat? a good mechanic should have.

these are notorious for doing headgaskets

My guess would be headgasket

^^ I'd agree with that now you mention it. My boss has a 2.5 legacy and he has had two blown/leaking head gaskets in the last 6 months.

thats just because it wasn't done correctly the first time . eg: heads will be soft , not correct prep ect .

id be leaning toward headgaskets for sure. if its had a good overheat then its almost guaranteed

thanks for all your help. it is now solved. so we've done all cambelt replacements. we took out the thermostat and now its not overheating. well i've driving it heaps and theres no problem at all. just the sound of the exhaust is completely different now. I've got a coby and an aftermarket exhaust. it used to be grunty but now it sounds like a wannabe v8. haha

Put the thermostat in boiling water and if it doesn't open the thermostat is toast. But I wouldn't say that just removing it is a good idea. I would rather replace it with one that works (if it's broken) or find out why it's overheating.
