Is there any difference performance-wise between the sedan and wagon versions? Very much love the practicality of the wagon (mountain biking) but don't want to comprimise teh go-factor.

Buy the 4 door and take the wheels off...the bike, not the car.

i beleive there probably is a difference between the performance of the sedan and the hatch, even though i havent seen any official info regarding it.

they use the same injectors, ecu and turbo however the hatch didnt come with the larger brembos

The performance is the same with JDM models though NZ new sedans were fitted with a group N dump pipe I had a NZ new hatch and had PF Automotive check it ove and they were surprised to see the parts on it from factory were the same as the STi sedan bar that dump pipe. The sedans have the wider wheel track to homologate the rally car to full WRC spec width so will ultimatley out corner a hatch and of course those bigger, heavier gold Brembos.

If you really want practicality buy a Forester Quite a boat compared to and WRX but very user friendly...

Despite the cheapness of the boot lid and limited storage space the STi sedan is the better car imo.

Nice compromise between STi sedan and hatch.

More practical, less power, big brakes.

I went for the sti hatch, although I'd like the bling brakes, sti wheels and wider track it's little to pay for the extra space in the back, and I always liked the bug eye wagon a little more. Power wise they're identical to the sedans, and from my (year long) test piloting don't seem to stop much worse, they do corner slightly worse, but I'm sure you could make up for that if you upgraded your suspension.
