Anyone know anything About GTT Caldina's? !Whats going on!

My friend has a GTT Caldina and last night driving along, we went to boost and it boost spluttered (kind of backfired out the gate) and the boost gauge was spiing up and down between 7-15 PSI (Currently tuned to 15PSI).

We then stopped and opened the bonnet- origanally thinking a boost hose or pipe had blown off, we had a hunt.. Couldnt find a thing..

Went to start it and it tunred over once. Then didnt even turn over again.

The starter motor makes and engaing noise when I turn the key, but its almost like it has seized or something!?! Any one got any ideas??

sounds like internet resolution of this problem is not going to help you mate. Take it to someone that knows or can see it in person.

I could rattle off a list of ten things at least that could be terminal motor failure and 'maybe' your issue. I dont think that approach is overly helpful here.

Yeah very true, I have taken the cambelt cover off and checked the turbo and everything. im thinking Maybe a snapped cam due to low oil pressure or maybe a melted piston.. Soon to find out. FKN cars!

i do know those GTT motors dont like to have to boost wound up, the like about 10psi max to last as they run pretty high compression. (taken from the Celica iirc).

Doesnt sound good though :(

either scenario seems reasonable given the boost going crazy and a seized motor. Can you get a large bar on the crank pulley and wind it over by hand? Being a inline four banger you should be able to remove the cam cover fairly easily as well. Id also compression test it. Should give you a reasonable stab at whats going on with it.

Yeah the tune was quite conservitive according to the tuner, reaching a 15PSI max at 215KW, im going to plug the link in and see if it threw any random fuel figures or codes.

I'm going to try and crank it over as soon as I have this rocker cover off. Hopefully I can figure it out.. Hymm

randomly the camry/estima engines do break cams but theyre v6 have seen it in one 3l hilux too only ever in toyotas. quite often with a broken cam they will still run but depends how its broken. pull the cam cover off its easy. checking alternators a bit trickier if you cant start it up but if your batterys dead flat its a good indication it should have anywhere betwen 12-13.5v.

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
