Single Turbo or STi Engine?

Recommended Posts

lol if you're just concerned about the lateness of your secondary kicking in, get it modded and tuned to run the way you want it via one of the professional workshops.

No point just commiting to something completely different without at least attempting to do a lil bit with what you have yourself :P

I vote, mod + tune or parallel instead of sequential LOLS..

o btw, i wouldnt be comparing oranges to apples when it comes to sr20dets and ej20s or else you'll be starting up the whole weight to power debate and engine strengths and weaknesses.

no t3t4 is a lag monster! tdo6 if you want big power but a td05 will be fine if your looking for medium range power.

just my opinion . td05 will bolt in factory position and will save you alot of fab work ect, can even get tdo6's to fit in factory position i believe.

Could always just get a Ver8 STi engine and drop that in, factory ECU and re-flash (or Link + tune, which ever).

Should fall within $5-7k depending which road you take with the ECU.

Can still sell off the old complete engine to somebody who's lunched theirs, to recoup some costs.

My relatively factory Ver8 STi engine made 236kw atw. And is very drivable with the twin scroll turbo (early power).

Yeah this was what i was orignally thinking,, Would this need the 6 speed gearbox of the STi or would my 5 speed WRX gearbox fit?

And yes theres a WRX gearbox in my legacy

with 5-7k and your doing the work yourself & getting mates to help etc? (easy nuff to follow the guides here)

I would recommend doing the conversion and a plug in link (standard engine and vfxx turbo),

unless its rev d, then use a wire in storm

Better (cheaper) option would be to buy one already done though

Yes G/B will bolt up fine.

Just make sure you keep your current flywheel, clutch and starter.

There's good news on the ECU front. My research has found that a V7 STi ECU is a plug-in fit. You can use it with the stock engine without any extra wires being run but you'll need to set the AVCS targets all to 0 and disable the codes for the missing TGVs :)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
