How good are these utes??

Hey guys.

I'm possibly lookin into gettin an 04 Ford courier 2wd double cab xlx diesel turb ute. Has high ks but is in a tidy state, lowered on 18's. It does look the part for a ford I guess haha.

I have been warned about heads cracking in them and that the gearboxes aren't very strong, I was just wondering if any of you out there have owned OR owns one and know of anything else to look for if I was to get it. Pros an Cons would be nice. Just wondering if it would be worth lookin into.

My work pro ides me with one, it is stock as, I tow tractors around behind it on a trailer, and it gets abused from one orchard to the next when I need to get there in a hurry. This one hasn't missed a beat yet, have note ed wheel alignments are needed on a regular basis, and one of the other ones thats done well over 350ks has only ever had the turbo seals done.

pretty reliable turboed ones are quick for a ute. utes go forever but they do heads and eat glowplugs gets expensive. if you buy one put in ngk plugs thats what genuine use. nearly swapped foz for a 2001 2wd turbo one prefer them over hilux coz they have power. when they blow up a sr20det bolts straight in i believe ;D

mate was a ford mechanic as said that when u have a heavy load on just drive in 4th as they have a weak part on them under heavy load , dad has the petrol version and never had a problem apart from getting stuck on spit ,

expect to be replacing bushes its whole life to being a high k vehicle but especially coz its a ute. the rangers are better than anything in the market at the moment for power/torque/economy/comfort/reliability and you can chip it later.

should be a good change. how are they compared to early tritons? found them seriously slug. we see a lot of common rail utes as we sell the impulso chips for them.

cheers for the info guys. If I do get it I was going to sell me old hiace and keep the ute for me run around driver. just wanted something that I wasn't going to fix every warrent.

Swindog, na this one is pure white. Must've been de-stickered cos it doesn't have the black stripe down the side anymore. I'll try an get a pic up soon for ya. Dude said he's also still got the canopy for it too

Yeah I was also told about the glowpug issue too. Would it be due to wrong use when starting or is it just a ford issue?

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
