Adjustables

Hey guys, i bought some adjustables a while back off trademe haven't gotten around to putting them in yet and i was looking at one of them (i think the front right) and the mount to the hub is definetley bent a bit. wondering if this is easily fixed or if its done for.

put it in a vice and twist it back?

if it snaps your in trouble

but in my untrained engineer (I am a maori carver by trade) you should be able to do it with no damage/weakening of construction

might be nice if you can bolt a spare hub in to keep its shape whilst "adjusting" it

If you were a trained Engineer, then you'd know about strain hardening and to a lesser extent (in this case) material fatigue

What I want to know is, how the hell did it get so bent out of shape?

Odds are they came out of a crashed car. Check to make sure the bottom threaded shaft isnt bent as well. Given the importance of this not shearing off why not buy a new bottom clasp?

Edit-looks like a fixed bottom clasp.. Id say its prpoer bothered. Get anew one.

dont be silly koom if you bend steel back and forth eventually it breaks! (fatigue)

autolign may have an old strut they can sell you the part off the bottom i put there number on your build thread.

I hate to say it but the strut itself is probably bent too. Turn it over so you can't see the mount and look at it from a distance. there should be no bend visible in the shaft itself.
