how to check if secondary turbo is working

hi all,

i've posted here a couple of times before and have had some great help. i'm using a 1999 gt-b engine to power my kit car. all is going well and seems to be working okay. due to the engine layout in the car i have opted to have two separate exhausts (one from each turbo).

now the strange bit. when the engine is running i can feel exhaust gases come out of the pipe from the primary turbo and nothing from the seondary (makes sense due to sequential logic). however, when i rev the engine above 5,000rpm i still cant feel anything out of the secondary exhaust pipe. i have only reved the engine past 5,000 but not sustained it. on top of that i don't get any code 66 errors.

is there a way that i can check if the secondary turbo is activating?

when you rev the car there is no load on the motor - this is the case on single turbo cars as well.

Whats happening is becuase there is no load the car is not generating much if any boost, so all you are feeling is turboless exhaust from the primary, the motor hasnt registered the need to open the by pass valve and build boost on the secondary - thus its all working perfectly normally and no codes

It will come out that exhaust when your hammering it actually driving it

Yah, crossover is calculated as much on load as it is on RPM, so you'll never ever ever get the secondary working with the car parked in the drive.

Best way to find if secondary is working is to go and fang it, and if she pulls like an STi above 5K, then all is well.

put gladwrap or something taped over that exhaust hole and go for a fang - if its working it will blow a hole in it

That looks like a pretty neat project, but I'm having a hard time wondering why you'd want to keep a sequential subaru TT system in there! Ah well best of luck to yah, yah mad bastard
