If you want something as a project then convert to carby and do a blow through setup.

Lower the compression with a thicker headgasket and thrash it till she blows up.

blow through setup??

ive wanted to do this but build a good one . with a ej20 crank/ rods and some forgies .

but i want to put it in a 4wd justy that im eyeing up lol.

i think standard there 9.5.1 cr so boost might end up being low but would be fun with a tdo4

would ej20 internals fit an ej18 block?

what about the carb ej16's can get my hands on one for cheap as a paddock hacker would be interesting to turbo one to blow up for fun lol

Blow through is intake-turbo-carb-engine. Easiest way to turbo a carburated engine.

Pretty basic way of doing it as it wont require pissing around with wiring or computer.

oh are there any guides or anything on this?

yup bore size is the difference with ej20 compared to ej18 . ej16's have a different crank(possably) with a 65.8mm stroke..... either that or the rods are 9.2mm shorter .... or gudgeon pin height could be different :D cant confirn that anyway

does require a turbo specific carby as most are not designed to be "boosted" and will have a whole heap of issues :).

I would see if you could get a cheap toyota super charger and pipe that up, may work out cheaper

Yeah carby needs to be "pressurised" to work properly under boost- ask about it on usmb(ultimate subaru message boards) they're all about carb and dizzy subies, they'll probably have some crazy american thats done it before- but as with any forum- use the search first xD

Back in the early 70's...turbo upgrade kits were made for Mk3 cortina 20litre engines...Came with thick head gaskets..You reused the carby...And the turbo sucked through the carb...then blew the mixture across the head straight into the intake manifold...No intercooling or waste gate..Blowoff valves were not even an item back then.

Did work!...But not for long, detonation killed the engine and more often than not there would be a underbonnet fire when the cross pipe blew off....Exciting stuff!

Guess you could do that to the 1.8....if you dare!!

The ol Mk3 used to fly with the kit fitted.....for a short distance!...Less than 8 sec to 60mph too!

Ive been told that the ej20t exhaust manifold will bolt upto the ej18 and i could even reuse the intake manifold change the ICV slap a turbo on and run a small intercooler

till it goes bang haha

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
