yes. higher offset numbers mean poind for pound they sit narrower.

in your example to the tune of 12mm

Sorry if I sound thick but when u mean narrower does that mean the Lower ofset wheel sits 12mm more outside of the guards as compared if the 42 wheel sat flush to the guard?

spoon - give or take yes a lower offset(30) will sit out 12 wider than the higher offset (42)rim.

so yes if 42 is flush 30 will be outside the gaurds by 12mm.

remember 12mm narrower will be 12mm closer to your inner gaurds and strut towers. anything over about 7.5 on a gc shell is hard to fit sensibly. and 8.5 on a gd shell... im talking conservative sensible though. 9's in any fitment without modded gaurds is going to be a problem on a subbie

I'm running 17x8 Sektas and with stock guards it would rub if I was any lower, and I am pretty sure it will rub at the back with passengers as it is now. I will be having the inner lip of my gaurds rolled and possibly pulled a little to ensure no rub.
