2000 GT Leagacy boost issues

Hi there have bought another GT Legacy 2000 Model - and it is having boost issues - (Suprise!) although i cant really blame it as some gaybo has played around with it - like putting a pod on it and replacing every hose in the engine bay to blue ones!

Just wondering where i should start? it had idle issues which is fixed with a new AFM - I am going to change the pod back to the facory air box as well

the main issues are when you boot it and you get about 12 pound on the first turbo and about 4 pound on the second, although it has got a rooted clutch and its sometimes hard to tell if its slipping or just not boosting, often when you would boot it it would make a highish pitch sound and it would not boost at all

Any ideas? - the secondary wastegate seems ok and its not smoking or anything

c'mon guys - also is it recomended to replace radiators with alloy ones or just normal kind?

From what you have said, seem like it's in a bad bad stage lol. What boost issues? Could you be more specific? I previously had a boost problem as my after market Blow Off Valve isn't very great for the twin turbo. So I replaced with the stock BOV and it works fine.

well basicly its gutless - yes it does have an HKS BOV on it could try changing that i suppose.

when it does do 12 pound the boost needle will wobble and the car will jerk a bit and when the secondary comes in there is no boost at all basicly

That's strange man, I never got into that problem before can't really help you but I can tell you it wouldn't be the bov, so you can keep the HKS bov on

boost leak. check all vacuum lines for splits holes...

First bit of advice is tocheck all the hoses are where they should be....

Then next thing i would do check your turbo

how should i check my turbo dont want to pull it off and its not smoking

How else do you wanna check it???

Maybe take the intake off and have a look in... Make sure it spins freely and all the blades are still there..

i remember trying to take a turbo off my 95 GT once it was such a bitch that i gave up i dont wanna pull it off and find that its still fine

to find problems it actually means you have to put the hard yards in, but if you dont want to do it, take it to a mechanic,

yea i know but if the turbo was stuffed wouldn't there be a lot of smoke from the exhaust?

Ive just figured something else out actually - the secondary exhaust downpipe is quite rusty could it be this?

It could be that... If rust=not working. then there is your problem...

Seriously dude rip out the intercooler and check the front of your turbo..

blue vac hose's everywhere?

are the restrictor 'pills" fitted in the correct palces / or at all

dont know haven't actually checked that, where do I find them? or where should they be?

pretty sure there are 3 or 4 ( model dependant )

they assist boost and in later models aid the 2 stage bov

hi again have just finished putting in the original Air Box in now - (Had a Pod) and a new AFM - that fixed the idle issues - but when I turned the car on the CEL came on and then went off when the car warmed up.

I then diagnosed it and it came up withe code 22 which is the Knock Sensor - so I pulled it out and it did look a bit dirty and it was cracked

Could this be the cause of the boost issues I'v mentioned?

I have a 2000 RSK-B4 with a knock sensor issue atm, Its really gutless on acceleration only when the CEL light is on. Do you notice that your CEL is on while its not boosting properly? If so, it should return to normal preformance once the CEL goes out.

To me, what you have described is a failed knock sensor, but Im no expert and this is my experience

yes i have noticed that, once its warmed up the CEL will go out but then it will randomly flash on and off when boosting

Hi Everyone still having issues after installing a new Knock Sensor - I have No CEL now but there is still no boost on the second turbo - please help as its pissing me off

also If your holding ur foot on brake and accelerating at the same time and holding full boost the boost will slowly stutter and drop off

any ideas?

Have you sorted all the boost hoses out?

havent checked for the pills - but dont know where they are

all the hoses seem to be in the right place ???
