what are some easy/cheapish performance upgrades for a flat 6?

After some reccomended/ easy performance mods for my b4 3.0R, and would anyone know where to get them done in chch?

sweet yea i heard improving the air intake is a big help, does kind of feel a bit choked at high revs. might hunt round for some shops

if u want to go faster with them start with doing some swaybars, i have a 3.0r B4 and its plenty fast, just put some bars in it and replace some of the bushes that will be worn, and then do a full service, ill just say that if you start to change the factory exhaust it will drone and low speeds and will be louder. One of the best things about these cars are that they are quiet and fast. You can just change the cats or gut them if u want better flow, but the headers are fine and then exhaust is pretty good standard.

bottom line just upgrade handling and you will notice a completely different car afterwards. I have done bars, flarb, wheels, tyres and brakes and its completely different than when i brought it

PS tuning maybe possible with these soon in Chistchurch when someone gets sometime free..

I'd completely forgotten about swaybars, de-catting or gutting the cat is obviously a cheaper option than a new exhaust overall.

on a less serious note: as always for an extra 5kw a clubsub sticker, true story.

I put exhaust and filter on mine. Pretty much no difference.

You will need to spend about 2k for filter, exhaust and tune and net maybe 10kw.

It'll be alot cheaper If he just does what dacerX suggested: and knocks out the cats = higher flow, and a decent panel filter: shouldn't even need a tune for it tbh and he'd notice a difference: better response, and with a good panel filter(or pod if you like that) getting cleaner air in = better running, so more economical.

Wouldnt you get 10kw just tuning it? Gains to be had in most cars with just a tune...

As for the filter stock replacement are fine as proven by people on here.

hmmmm some serious food for thought, though perhaps i should just combine an edaboc sticker with a clubsub one. What about those 'my family' stickers? they must give you some serious gains atw, everyone has them

Check out 'mighty car mods' on YouTube, 'intake myths tested' I think its called worth a watch before waste your money.

Just leave it as it is mate - if you do do mods though - dont do 'cheap' mods or you will end up worse

dont bother with tune, handling and experience is the best thing u can do to get the best out of that car

Pretty much what dacerx said.

I put in adjustable suspension, sway bars and upgraded brakes. These made it handle like a race car.

The exhaust/filter etc just made it louder.
