fia approved seats ? ? ? wheres est place to buy

looking into getting at least one for now or 2 price dependent.

just asking if anyone knows where a good deal can be had. will be getting a cage soon hopefully so want to future proof by getting approved seats.

You don't need FIA seats until you get up into the higher levels of motorsport don't you? (Has been a few years since I've opened my motorsport manual thingy).

i think your correct and the price difference seams very substantial!

wrx seats don't hold me very nicely when cornering.

Got mine off trade me for 400 bucks. Momo XL though so a bit big but meets the regs.

yea theres not much on trademe at the moment . i think i would need L or poss XL.

im around 90ish kgs and shy of 6 foot

thats pretty much my size, was when I bought it. I'm about the wrong side of 100kg now still fits though, actually fits better.

You need fia approved seats if the car is under 14 years old if you intend to use on the street.

What?

You need FIA seats if you replace the factory occupant protection system. Ie airbags, pretensioning

belts, collapsible steering columns and changing bodyshell seam welding... You also need a cage that goes through to the front towers in this instance.

If the car is more than 14 years old I believe you can now get it certed to remove airbags. But that is not to do with cages as far as I am aware.

Personally, having crashed while racing with cheap Trademe seats, I won't be using them or cheap rails again! I own Racetech seats now as they are quite visibly stronger and they have been crash tested to a standard, so you know they are going to stand up well in a crash as long as you have good seat mounting etc.

exactly what im thinking viv . my saftey is the main reason why i want good gear .

after seeing the pics from your crash i def don't want to be skint about things like cage/seats/harness ect

I have several WRX and was planning on one Targa Car and one Gravel car. So far just the Gravel Rally car has taken shape, it's an RA 1998 4 door, so I am putting the Targa Car on hold at present (2 door 1998). May decide to do it in 2013, hence I have a spare pair of seats ( I bought two pairs in)

I am also restoring a 2 door 1998 GCS, and need a few items... Namely engine, front standard seats, bonnet. Any help would be appreciated
