macintosh speaker,s.

: hi don,t seem to be able to raise a responce from scoobydoo on site any where. So could someone tell if what i have heard is correct, are the speaker,s in a 2002 rs30 legacy (front & rear door,s) 6.5" & 8 ohm impedence? Sorry this is a macintosh audio system. It,s the 8 ohm bit im worried about, this is not normal as most system,s are 4 ohm,s.

From what I remember, yes they are, but it's been a few years since I've dealt with a factory speaker..

;D thank,s scoob. I will have to see if i can get some genuine one,s because there certainly are not any after market one,s that fit the bill. So probably expensive. An mattapo i through a multi across one an guess what the bug ga,s are 8 ohm,s damn.

just remember the lower the ohms the harder the amp works to run them, but if you run a 4 ohm speaker on a 8 ohm amp it will work fine but you just run the risk of ruining the amp at higher volumes

4ohm speakers work fine on the macintosh amp. The factory ones do sound excellent tho.

so a good quality 4ohm speaker would work fine as long as it is not run at high volume all the time, if this is right will replace with 4ohm units,thanks for all the info. :

Run it at high volume all the time. I do. Have some middle range Fusion components in the front and standard speakers everywhere else. For best results, get a component speaker and leave the standard mcintosh tweeter in there or things tend to sound a bit sharp.

yeah 4ohms will work fine man just the amp will just run abit hotter than normal as its a heaver load

:-[ just got of phone from subaru dealership price for 1 macintosh 6.5" speaker for this model suby is aaaaaaaaaaah, $608.00+gst 10 days x japan. For 1 bloody speaker you could replace the damn car for the price of all 5 including 6-9 sub on rear parcel tray lol. Inquired for curiosity more than anything, what a fright that was. :

haha what a rip they aren't even as good as fusion components and they aren't the most pricey either
