wrx check engine light issue please help!

Hi guys. recently my CEL has been coming on. ive taken it into subaru and they have told me it is my exhaust gas temp sensor that is rooted, they unplugged it and said it should be fine. about a month later i was driving along and it came on again! i took it back to subaru they scanned my ecu and it came up with the same code, being the exhaust gas temp sensor, they reset the code and sent me on my way....2 weeks later the light has come on again! as much as i dont think its harming my car because its a faulty sensor its really annoying...any ideas how i could get it to stay off? any help would be greatly appriciated.

the thing i dont get is they unplugged it so how is it picking up the exhust gas temp when theres no sensor even there telling the light to come on but its still coming up with that code when they scan my ecu?

Unplugged my AFM once, CEL came on. ECU must of known something was up. The ECU is probably noticing it\'s not receiving any information from the sensor, hence the CEL. Why it takes a while before it pops up and not immediately? I\'m not sure on that.

although i replacing it would be the normal and logical thing to do you could just wire in a resistor to the exhaust gas temp sensor plug but if you are going to go through that much trouble you might as well replace it.

in conclusion... REPLACE IT!! cant be too expensive and could probably do it yourself
