Boost Gauge install?

Hey guys I have a 1990 Legacy GT and just wanting some tips on installing it. Anyone got any pictures or words of advice for me? much appreciated.

carefully choose the vacuum line you T into, dont use the fuel pressure regulator line or the map sensor line.

I used to have mine on the BOV line.

Another good idea is to use a restrictor in the line to the gauge to stop it flicking around on boost, the if the gauge came with a T piece it may have a restrictor already in it.

If you want a hand sing out (I\'m in chch too), only pain in the bum part of the job is finding a way to keep it all looking tidy

If you get a small enough gauge it can fit inside a DIN pocket thing, I\'ve got mine there, have yet to make up a faceplate to hide everything, but it (hopefully) will end up looking nice lol

Yea I\'ve had a look on google but there wasnt anything specific to my car. Didn\'t really want to go round cutting things unless I was certain lol.

a boost gauge simply reads the pressure in the inlet manifold so you need to T it into one of the vacuum lines connected to it

Handy thing to have helps find faults with vacuum leaks but just be sure to use the least amount of line as possible. Mine has about 2meters on it O_O which is truly annoying. Waiting for jap race to get more blue hosing it as I already upgraded all my lines but was short by about 300mm (typical) and they had run out of blue. I don\'t want another colour in my engine bay

mine goes from solenoid to a tee to the intake manifold

Chuck a photo up of your engine and me or someone will point out exactly which point to use. Pretty much any hose coming off the manifold *should* be fine but there\'s always a best option

On this era there is a 1/8th bsp plug for this purpose in the manifold instead of cutting into a hose and disturbing another component , my gauge came with the fitting that screws into it, and thiS is true manifold pressure as its straight into the manifold not in line with something else.

It\'s near the turbo on the leg of the manifold closest to the turbo and it has a small male square drive, can be quite tight.

Did this on cellphone so excuse the badness but thats how its setup on my v3 sti. I would have chosen silicone lines rather than airhosing but hey seems to do the trick. To bad the original installer used like 2meters of hosing haha
