Couple questions

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hey guys my project has nearly come to an end. Just a couple questions to clarify before starting it

1) does the Icv and throttle NEED to be water cooled or is it ok to bypass for the meantime?

2) is there any way of testing a possum link ecu to see if its working? Or do I just plug it in and turn on ignition and see if hand controller lights up?

3) is it ok to block the Pcv and crank case breather?

4) my standard ecu is tuned for 370cc injectors and I\'m now running 565cc injectors. If I start it will I flood my cylinders?

5) I\'m using an aftermarket fpr. A sard one. Would it be okay to decrease the pressure to lower the amount of fuel going into the cylinders? If so how do I find out how much to decrease it by.

1/ Yes ICV needs the heat to close off as engine warms.

2/ Not that I know of personally

3/ Would not block off Crankcase breather.......Subarus have enough issues with blowing oil out of the rocker cover breathers without further assisting it. Infact later models have two crankcase breathers.

Ok to block PCV but you need to dump the blow by gases somewhere........Exhaust or can.

4/ It will start up ok....and run rich.

5/Aftermarket Fpr.....Higher pressure and lower injector combo, is far better than high flow injectors with low pressure........ Better atomisation of fuel at higher pressure.

Hope that assists!

Thanks for that really helped :)

Im not running coolant through tb.

Normally you test wire ins by powering them on a bench with 12v and excitor wire. Guess plugging it in would do the same.

I wouldnt play with the fpr just set it at base pres then get it tuned.

Yea I was just thinking of leaving it aye. Don\'t really wanna fiddle with it. You\'re running no tb? Any issues?

I just looped the coolant line back in seems fine. Is it to warm up air on cold mornings? but then it takes ages for coolant to get up to temp to make a diff anyway? I just deleted it less shit in the engine bay and it doesnt get that cold up here.

Pics of progress?

just to clarify whats been said above, the throttle body doesn\'t require the coolant line. you can delete that. but the Idle Control Valve does need it, if you are using factory idle control.

i assume with aftermarket you can tune (idle) around not having the mechanical temperature compensation

isnt the icv completely different between v34 and v5/6 anyway?

My understanding is it\'s purely to stop the throttle freezing open/shut in siberian temps, ive turfed it on all my mitsis just on the off chance it helps lower intake temps that little bit more

If you have a G4 you do not need ICV ;)...Coolant through throttle is primarily for cold/freezing enviroments ;)

Also Why re heat the air you have just cooled?

With the ol possum link im not sure if you can tune around the lack of ICV ??? Someone here will know no doubt. ;)

Tbh I dont know but sometimes it doesnt idle up like it should. Wouldnt have thought it would be the coolant lines though. I dont know if it even uses the icv. I changed everything so it start and ran on the plug in then got gary to tune it.

Yea I just put water lines to Icv and plumbed it to the return which on the crossover pipe thing on the block. Ill put some pics up in the garage thread soon. Pretty happy at how it looks ATM. Anyone know if I can find some tunes for a possum link with minor mods just yo get me started. It\'s going to torque performance next week hopefully :)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
