Negative lead goes to where..?

The 2 leads straight off the negative terminal on the battery...I know the longer one goes to the starter motor, but dunno about the short lead? I'm guessing straight to the chassis, but can't find where.

I thought the short negative lead went to the engine block, but could be wrong.

IIRC, isnt there a bolt hole in the side guard (where the positive terminal is in above picture)?

mine bolts on to the intake manifold

Bet it doesn't

That's an auxillary earth that comes from the strut tower you are talking about

Model dependant , chassis earth is either just above headlight on pannel in front of battery

or l/h inner guard by the battery

it may go there now it may have been moved in the past
