Engine Rebuild Question

Im currently looking at a Wrx which has had the engine rebuilt but the current owner cant give my any information on the rebuild, rebuild was 107k is all he knows car has now done 138k, should i stay clear?

Id treat it that way. Check the cases see if theres fresh gasket goo between the cases. Marks on the gearbox/engine housings to show its been apart.

He got told by previous owner it got done and has nothing to base that off - so assume it hasn\'t been, or at least disregard if it has or not I suppose. Got to wonder what life it led to need a rebuild at 100km.

Bit like when a car get the cambelt done *juuuust* before being sold - half the time it\'s just had someone write "C/Belt XXXkm / Date" in a paint pen the day they chucked it on trademe. Without a reciept you\'re just relying on the sellers word.

Even if it has or hasn\'t though, that\'s pretty low km\'s for a 99 sti to have regardless, looks like a nice enough car

Thats why you have a build thread. Better than receipts imo but both is better.

yeah it looks good, i take it as having those kms no build sheet = no build, if it has been done then sweet if not kms low anyway.

Guess its a risk but no more than buying any other car, personally i would rather buy rebuilt as opposed to genuine kms anyway.

ALL my cars got big kms never had a problem
